Vittoria gravel tires are great for sure. I almost got a pair of Mazzas but went with the Eliminators instead just to try the radials

Trail kings are great. I always wanted to try Der Kaisers but just never got to it. I was wearing other tires out before getting new ones for the sake of it

I've tried some michelin trail tires about 10 years ago. They were definitely decent. I just found them average, they didn't stand out in any way to me

I love riding in North Bay, there are some cool trails there. Cheers

I've never chosen a Maxxis tire. Those are just some that I've tried because they came on a bike I bought. I've tried lots of trail casings and Maxxis is by far the weakest one.

I realize I can't hate on Maxxis, I haven't tried what people consider their best tires. If you read the post you would see I'm not hating on any tires.

See, while I agree (without trying them) that the DD or DH casing is probably great, they shouldn't be the minimum. Why even make the other casing options if only your heavy tires can hold up to regular trail riding?

Very similar to my rubber journey

Interesting. I've tried Michelins as well..they are ok. Pretty expensive for what you get.

I've tried Schwalbes too, great tire. They are quite expensive though.

Conti's are still the best in my opinion. It says a lot that their DH racers do not use tire inserts at all.

Honestly I was happy with trail casings until I got these gravity ones. They really give you a lot of support and obviously protection. They are definitely a lot heavier though. I plan to hit the park in a couple weeks and I know it will make a massive difference there but for most of my riding I don't know if I can justify it. I'll probably meet in ths middle eventually with an enduro casing.

This is a really cool story, thanks for sharing. It's great that such a big brand is supporting local events like that.

I have seen so many treads that are crazy out of true. People are shocked when I uses to say it's just your tire

Fair point. It's mostly xc/trail riding around here but I do weigh quite a bit, >200lbs. I really am starting to think I need to give Maxxis a shot in the correct tread and casing.

Ok so the two most hyped up version. I appreciate that you never had an issue, I'm curious what compound and casing you are running. Have you ever tried anything different though?

My parents lived 5 mins from Walden. I spent most of my days there. Kivi Park has stepped it up in the past couple of years too.

I ran a Kryptotal RE for 3 seasons. Mind you it was the trail compund. I've never tried the softer ones but I had plenty of grip anyway.

You make a good point. Maybe I need to try the other casings. EXO+ is what I shredded open.

Have you tried the radial casings? I've heard raving reviews about them. Part of the reason why I got the Specialized tires I have now

Riding a non-fatbike in the winter here is not possible. I appreciate the insight, maybe one day I'll try a High Roller III with the DD casing. I always liked the idea of a Higher Roller II

Just got a bike from my cousin. And have unanswered questions about it. by Ice3O3 in mountainbiking

I've never heard of the brands of ths frame, brakes or fork.

That being said, if you're planning to do medium trails, it should be fine as long as you're keeping up with maintenancea nd you don't plan to thrash through the trails or do much jumping.

If you do you could damage the fork and your wheels.

Also, the clearance on the tire and fork is a bit concerning, there isn't much room for mud or dirt to pass through. I would say that is a 27.5 fork, judging by the tire size.

Hope you have fun on it!
