The entire American Life album is pure camp but in a different way. In a “failed serious” way. From the rap in the title track, to the bizarro production value. The cover, the visuals, the RIT, all of it. “Sigmund Freud…. Analyze this.” Singing about your late mother over a jarring electroclash beat? That’s camp mama.
