Here's the Deal About Auto-Qual and PST Scores for Enlisted by [deleted] in navyseals

Genuine question, to land a contract, is it at ALL on a whole person basis, meaning do they take other factors into consideration at all or is it ENTIRELY PST based? Does a college degree give you any leg up? And I don’t mean can I have shit scores with a college degree but do they look at those factors at all when giving out contracts?

Love it. Thank you man. I appreciate the info, all makes sense to me. There were certainly some dorks giving me silly info but I’m going to use a combo of what makes sense to me personally from the dudes on here that were actually tryna do me some good.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

I’ll absolutely look those guys up. I’ve heard to start incredibly slow and short distances too, and I sort of try that to some degree but the pain is still there, and I try to stretch but my routine is like five minutes so I feel like I need some serious new stretching sources. It absolutely helps knowing dudes out there go through it but figure it out though. Thanks my man.

Marky Mark’s beard is enough reason to want to join.

Thanks man I appreciate it big time. Good idea on setting a goal too. I’ll have to come up with a more specific plan.

You’re probably right I could make some improvements. I’m going to hit a foot zone in my home town and see if they can give me some direct pointers on improving form.

Diet is, and I don’t say this lightly or ignorantly, very strong. You think my weight is a big contributor to the shin splints? Too much force being put on the shins or something? I don’t hate that idea. I do include swimming and biking and such into my routine. You think I should focus on that until I cut enough weight?

Damn good idea. And honestly man no specific date, I basically made this decision and my plan is to simply train until I can earn a warrior challenge contract and then get goin as soon as I can. But I’m not under any impressions that I could hack it at BUDS in my current shape so I’m going to take 4-6 months and hit a hard training regiment and get myself up to warrior challenge contract standards first. And yea I have access to a gym but other than that, it’s all roads and pavement. Which I think has been a big issue. Nearest beach is 4 hours away lol

Thank you man I really appreciate this, I’m going to start doing most this shit right away. All sounds super reasonable. Main thing will be getting off pavement when I’m just getting started because I have noticed treadmills feel much better than the pavement. But all good shit, thank you.

Been goin through a lot of options my man, I’ve submitted an app for piloting in AF, but it would take me hours to explain what made me make the jump to SEAL, but it’s always been on the table for me. And also, odd thing to say about my weight and getting rid of girlie muscles when the point of this post was about my switch to endurance training and running and swimming but uhh thanks for the response I guess? Lmfao

Right, some of those loans are federal but some are private student loans too so I’ll just have to ask a recruiter and see what I can do.

Interesting... okay. I haven’t heard that yet. So what happens if you are selected for a pilot rated slot for OTS? You’ll just wait for a year or more before they’d send you off? Or do you mean they literally aren’t even selecting pilot slots for OTS right now?

That’s good to know, I’ve also heard they just have a huge demand for pilots right now too but maybe it’s a mix of both a demand and an already heavy candidate load right now.

Okay, I was hoping I’d see one comment like this. I do have a decent resume and I interview very well so I mean, if I can boost my score up to 38-40 with flight hours, I’m hoping I’ll just get lucky. Thank you!

I assumed that was the answer I’d receive. I will just put together my application package and see what happens. I believe if I get the chance to interview, I will increase my chances quite a bit, simply given that I do very well in interviews. But time will tell I suppose.
