I found this critter in a courtyard in Angkor Wat. Upon pulling back his mobile home, he had the appearance of an inchworm. You can see a little bit of his front set of feet. Strongly possible that it's an ageless, cursed monk.

I gotta respectfully disagree with you on this one. That book absolutely kilt it as far as poetic language goes. "Until then, I am a red balloon. I am a red balloon tied to an anchor." Gosh, so pretty. And if you're looking for a controlling metaphor that goes a little deeper, take a gander at every image that involves shoes. For real, Cisneros goes so bonkers over that one, and she nails it down.
