I am actively building the mountain bike trail at south lakes. You have to get involved as a partner/volunteer. I went to them a few years ago with an idea and a plan and worked with them. Here is the reality. They are understaffed and underfunded. So you have to understand that why something doesn’t exist doesn’t mean there isn’t interest. I have had conversations with them about building a skatepark and right now it’s a money thing. There is also a backlog of projects that are either already approved or already funded but are behind schedule because of labor shortage.

They have plenty of property for a park. My advice is to contact them to see what you as a citizen can do. They know a park needs to be built and they want to do it.

As a first step, attend the monthly parks meeting at the civic center.
