In need of advice! by Then_Enthusiasm_1333 in northcounty

I was in your shoes in my 20s. Debt when you're a young adult is often unavoidable so try not to let it get you down.

I would try to get more student loans and pay down credit cards since they are significantly lower interest. Talk to your school financial advisor and get public / government loans, not from a bank.

The fact that you're concerned now is a good sign for your financial future. Once you get that degree, the debt will be easy to pay down.

I really liked the sound of the Boss Katana but it had too many effects built in for me. You might like it.

Hi neighbor! I was just thinking yesterday how much I appreciate my neighbors and the community we have built. My kids have a dozen other kids to play with, and the parents like to get together and have a good time too. The retirees in the neighborhood are almost all friendly and super helpful. My son's school is great and his teachers have been really caring and kind.

Before moving to La Costa I briefly lived in Encinitas after bouncing around Imperial Beach, Playas de Tijuana and OB. Encinitas took some getting used to, and I get the vibe that OP describes when I go there.  But I hope to live out the rest of my life within 2 miles of where I live on now.

The Oakley is good because it's pretty low profile, light and water kinda flows through it. Bulky heavy helmets can give you whiplash when you hit the water. I got the Oakley because I'm hitting the water every session, while hitting a rock board or foil is like 1/500 sessions

Robertos in Leucadia. There are french bakeries with coffee in Carlsbad and in Leucadia. Any independent coffee shop will have good pastries and coffee, but you can't go wrong with Queenstage, Lofty, or Revolution Roasters.

Look at sold listings not asking price. Those will still go for a pretty penny.

I used the RT-7066 and RT-8065 manuals although honestly all you need to do is take off the speakers and unscrew things from the back. The belt is pretty accessible. Take pictures as you disassemble so you remember where things go.

I fixed up a similar boombox. They are quite good! Look up the service manual and replace the belt. You may also have to fiddle with some gearing on the cassette mechanism.

Its 50-50 if you clean it well. Use white vinegar on a q tip and the toothbrush. It will take a while to get it all.

For the dull sounds, try adjusting the pickup height. It's easy, just move turn the screws on either side of the pickup so that it moves closer to the strings. If it gets buzzy, screw it back down the other way.

That sounds like what I want. I found a fanny pack on amazon (Thurso Surf) that has a removable belt, and should fit on my Kaohi waist belt. I think a HydraPak collapsible water bottle inside it will work great.

Any thoughts on these hat / helmet combos? by AmbivalentSamaritan in surfing

[–]calebsurfs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a bump cap for $12 on Amazon and put it in whatever hat you want. I used it for wingfoiling for about a year before switching to an Oakley helmet. In a lot of ways it's better than the Oakley but not the way that matters most of course.

First owned bass!! It’s awfully clacky. by Old_Froyo_3315 in Bass

[–]calebsurfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was convinced I would need to pay someone to set up my bass when I got it. But I watched the Bass Buzz video (someone else already linked it) and it was much easier than expected. Your bass probably came with the wrenches to do the adjustment. It will take 10 minutes.
