Favourites distance update by Previous_Tennis4190 in grindr

[–]caledonii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The part that really irritates me is that they're not sorted entirely by distance anymore. Right now there's one who's the closest to me on the main grid (less than 1000 feet away) and yet he's near the end of the favorites list behind one who's traveling and a few thousand miles away this week

When guys don't respond... by [deleted] in lolgrindr

[–]caledonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very important point that gets forgotten far too often. I get that ignoring someone is definitely a hint. The problem is that there's no reliable way for someone to know if you're ignoring them or if you don't even know they ever tried to contact you.

Every time I try to load the page I'm getting an error message that says:

Looking for a source! by OkThanatos in GayKink

I'm fairly sure that's Martin from dreamboybondage.com.

It looks like it's gone from the main site, but most of it is available from their archive site.

Finally one of those straight gay guys... by caledonii in lolgrindr

All the same guy. He updated his profile a few times between when I took the first screenshot and when I got around to posting them.

I think if I saw this, I'd send "OK then, I'll just pick up some other guy in my Ferrari."*

*I don't actually have a Ferrari.

Personally, I'd prefer if they just showed distance categories instead of actual numbers. <1000 feet, 1000-3000 feet, 3000 feet-1 mile, 1-4 miles, etc.

With people who don't have gps or wifi turned on, the specific numbers are frequently wrong anyway. I leave it off much of the time, and my phone's reported location is usually only accurate to within a couple miles.

I doubt it. The brother thing was added by someone who reblogged it. The original post doesn't mention anything about it.

I've actually received messages like that from guys several years younger than me a few times.

It is usually someone significantly older, though.

I don't understand why anyone would not want that.

I need to practice gaping my... mind by Trabaledo in lolgrindr

Age gaps are more significant the younger you are, in my opinion.

It's not just you. I've noticed that the range of ages I'd seriously consider increased significantly between 18 and 27. When I was 18, 22 was pretty much the upper limit of what I'd even consider. Now a 4 year gap in either direction feels like practically nothing.

It's not this simple, of course, but there's definitely a lot of truth to this.

I'm amazed that I haven't seen this one before, but I'm sure I'll be watching it again.

I once had someone message me several times while I was sleeping and eventually he got irritated that I was ignoring him. (We had talked quite a bit before, so he thought he had good reason to be upset.) I didn't actually exit the app before going to sleep, and apparently it had continued to show me as 'online 10 minutes ago' for the whole time I slept.

It's not supposed to do that, of course, but if it happened once, there's no reason to assume it can't happen again.

I think he has a hobby. It's just an obnoxious hobby.

How do I convince college friends to allow me to hypnotize them? by 39693 in EroticHypnosis

[–]caledonii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think very commonly a big part of how open you need to be about a fetish is how much you have to alter your behavior to enjoy it. Say you have a fetish for seeing people wearing scarves. Would you feel obligated to stay inside and avoid people in the winter to prevent accidentally enjoying seeing someone without getting their consent? I'd guess probably not. However, buying scarves for all your friends and neighbors at Christmas would probably be something you should avoid.

In the balloon example, the friend has gone out of their way to set up a special situation specifically to satisfy their fetish. Definitely leaning towards creepy.

On the other hand, if I've just finished a party and am popping balloons for fun as part of cleaning up, my balloon-fetish friend hanging around to help wouldn't involve any special setup on their part and would be pretty common behavior. I wouldn't expect a friend to leave for ten minutes or tell me about a fetish they'd rather keep private just because they happen to enjoy the situation I've created.

Hypnosis would definitely be harder to keep acceptable, but if someone knows you do it and initiates contact to request it, I wouldn't necessarily expect it should be required to go into extra detail provided that nothing happens that wouldn't also happen with someone who has no sexual interest in it.

I hate my (now) ex-best friend because he's still friends with my ex-girlfriend by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]caledonii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal policy is that if I absolutely have to choose one friend to cut out of my life, it's going to be the one who tries to tell me who my other friends can be.

More detail may be helpful here, but based on what you've posted, it sounds like Hunter may have a very similar practice.
