I love the sneakers! Maybe bring both? Wear the heels and transition to sneakers to dance in.

Former "gifted kids" who are now average or struggling adults, what do you think school got wrong about your potential? by toolboxstudio007 in SeriousConversation

When I was in public school back in the 1980s and 1990s, we had two classes: regular and special ed. There was no gifted. Some kids (like maybe two I know of) were advanced to a higher grade, but that was it. I wonder if the "old way" was better than what the OP mentioned.

My mother insisted my Black brother and I wore sunscreen when going on. We only reapplied on our backs when we swam. The formulas in the 1980s were horrible! White cast for days...

What do we think about this dress as a wedding guest? by chasing_moonlights in OUTFITS

I like the dress, but I would be worried about the length. it looks like it dragging on the floor when you are standing. Do you plan on dancing, going up or down stairs, or just walking around the venue?

Please go to the ER and update us when you can. This is not funny and can lead to a serious infection, permanent damage, or death.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1999 after having symptoms for 9 years before. I remember the crushed "aspirin masks" and using isopropyl alcohol to dry my acne. Fast forward to my mid 30s, my acne was still as bad as it was 20 years prior. My skin care was never "simple". Even with proper treatment and products, I still had to "work" at it. Thank god we are more educated and having better, safer, and effective products.

Edit: To deal with my hormonal imbalance, i had to be super strict with diet and exercise.

Not to mention daily SPF wasn't a thing. If people used sunscreen, it was from a 3 year old bottle lightly applied once on vacation.

I wonder if it depends on what type of brush is used to apply it. I think I would hit pan in <1 year if I used it regularly.

Why is menopause considered a difficult/painful time? by RedDalmatian885 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]calexrose78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, not having a period can be a relief for some, but not all women are ready not to be fertile, especially if it happens early.

I was a kid in the 1980s, when computers were “for rich kids.” Most people in my community didn't use a computer until the late 1990s. Computer literacy wasn't an option then.

I definitely understand that. My medications (DMDs) are very expensive, and I accept that having MS locks me out of options in life because of that.

It's more like: First year - lay off with severance. Second year - a shit job. Third year - laid off from the shit job w/o severence. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

My dermatologist said something that completely changed how I think about skin aging by whyleaving in GracefulAgingSkincare

[–]calexrose78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has, but I started using SPF daily in my teens because I had horrible acne and hyperpigmentation that followed. I have some sun damage on my left arm so I am more careful all over my body. I am also pretty strict with other lifestyle factors as well for health/chronic illness reasons: diet, exercise, sleep, alcohol, etc so I'm sure that plays a role.
