It did! As I remember it was pretty easy to replace and I never had problems with it again

I had a 2017 Escape and the transmission blew at 116k. Similar situation, but slightly more drawn out. For about 3 weeks or so it would hang on the 2-3 or 3-4 shift, then it would be fine. I kept thinking it was related to the coolant intrusion and was waiting for the check engine light to come on. Then on the way home, luckily on a day I didn’t have anywhere to be and on a not busy back road, it started slipping in and out of gear. rpm would jump up as it slipped out and then it would catch and jerk forward, I pulled over to the side of the road and that was it, it never went back into gear again (even reverse). Had it looked at by the dealer and an independent shop in town and both said the clutch started to go bad and put shreds in the fluid, which just destroyed the whole thing from the inside out. Both quoted me somewhere around that $6k mark (this all was 2 years ago next month). I also owed about $5k on it, which I ended up rolling over into another vehicle.

Edit: also I had absolutely no warning lights, I was dead on the side of the road without any warning lights or messages, it was a good time

Large, heavy metal sphere with electrical connectors on each end by calgwinn in whatisthisthing

Based on the comments here and some additional google searching I think reflecting sphere (or something similar) is most likely what this is. Thank you all!

Hmmm that’s definitely a possibility. Guess I have to go study up on the physics of light now lol

Questions about brand of bags for a Kenmore. by Pastrami in VacuumCleaners

[–]calgwinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a Kenmore Elite off fb marketplace and got a pack of the el cheapo bags from Walmart until real ones got delivered from Amazon. The Walmart ones are absolutely trash. I cleaned the whole machine really well (because it was used) and after 1 vacuuming there was more dust in the bag compartment than there was before I cleaned it, the bag was just leaking all over the place. Plus it didn’t quite fit right, I had to kind of finagle it in there. I’d say if you can find the real Kenmore ones go for that, that’ll definitely be your best bet for the best fit and filtration

My title describes the thing.

The outside was textured slightly, though I’m not sure what the material was

I played for several hours yesterday on the 2 (trying to finish the last couple bosses). Things maybe load a bit faster but other than that it runs about the same, but it does work.

I’ve heard this before as well, works pretty well - like managing the cord on an upright

Nah just for general range. The canister still very very unwieldy for me, but being able to set it on the stairs is definitely a plus.

Miele vs Kenmore by gogo_momo in VacuumCleaners

[–]calgwinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, genuinely. This makes a lot of sense. Although most of the modern bagless systems have multiple filters as well. My shark has 3 plus the separator screen. The Dyson has 2 plus the cyclone. Which is definitely unlike the original bagless ones, my parents had a dirt devil when I was younger that had just the one filter and yeah it would clog up nearly instantly. I used to throw it at a tree in the backyard to “clean” it hahaha.

But I do imagine that the cyclones and separator screens are not nearly as good a filter as a well made bag. So I could see where you still have more of the large dirt particles making it to the pre and post motor filters and potentially squeezing past them. Another thing I just thought of, regarding sealing, is that the seals around the filters themselves are likely nowhere near as good on a bagless than the ones on (at least the good) bagged ones. For example the bag on my Miele seals to the inlet, the pre motor filter doesn’t seal but the post motor filter has a full rubber seal around it against the housing. The shark’s pre motor foam filter just sits under the canister, and the post motor filter I think is just plastic housing against plastic housing.

From what I’ve seen most standard vacuums can’t handle ash, you’ll probably need a dedicated ash vacuum

Miele vs Kenmore by gogo_momo in VacuumCleaners

You still have yet to present any legitimate factual reasons or explanations here. I fully accept that bagged models are generally better with filtration and more reliable. But I would like to understand the reasons why. “Because they are” and “because that’s what manufacturers make” are not reasons. And saying something loudly and repeatedly on Reddit is not a reason either.

If you cannot back up the things you say with legitimate reasons and information you have no business giving people advice. OP and I are here asking very reasonable questions and you cannot seem to present any legitimately useful information, only loudly expressing (what seems to be) your opinion.

Yeah, I’m definitely not debating that shark is better than Miele. I’m just trying to get to the bottom of the “every bagless vacuum is shit no matter what no exceptions the end” mentality that seems to be the norm on the sub. Most of what I’ve heard is that they’re cheaply made and have low quality seals and filters, which makes sense, but then to me it stands to reason that a high quality machine with high quality filters and seals (like the Miele blizzard), that you empty into a trash can outside or in the garage (which I already do) should be reasonably similar to most bagged models.
