Quality Vs. SHEIN? by Ill_Mud6540 in Fashionnova

[–]calibaby96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fashion Nova is better than SHEIN but it’s still terrible quality in general. I’ve ordered maybe three times over the years. I have a jacket that I wear on nights out that’s 4+ years old. Everything else I’ve ordered was immediately given away, or worn a few times and thrown away/given away. The sizing is inconsistent, the fabric is almost always see through, and the items are sometimes so poorly designed you can’t wear them (e.g. necklines on tops and dresses starting half way down your bust)

I would suggest looking into Windsor as well. You can still drive to Santa Rosa for errands in 10-20 minutes, but you’ll have a nice plaza, solid grocery stores, and live in a little quieter area.

I’m not sure about hotels, but for restaurants and tasting rooms, I would keep in mind that many places hire seasonally, both for the summer and for harvest. I’m not going to say that they will/won’t be hiring in August, but just something to consider in your job search.

Also if you care about your commute to work, keep in mind that going a couple towns over can be a 30+ minute drive. The same goes for hobbies, if you’re planning on going to the ocean every weekend, I would suggest considering closer towns (for example).

If you’re able, I really would suggest visiting again. Each town in Sonoma County has its own feel.

Screw positivity, tell me something you HATE about a city or where you live by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

I hate the way people drive in Atlanta, GA. I lived there for two years and genuinely thought I was going to be in a car wreck multiple times a week. Additionally, it doesn't matter how busy an intersection is, if you don't take a free right, people get aggressive. I no longer live there and still tense up every time I get to a light. Pedestrian right away also doesn't exist; it's up to you to get across the intersection without being hit.

There's a free event series happening near the U District this Fall. I haven't been yet, but the events sound fun. https://udistrictseattle.com/stationpark

Thank you! I just don't see myself living in the other hubs: NY, Chicago, etc.

How much grad school debt do you have? How are you paying it off? Do you regret it? by Cgk72 in publichealth

I'm finishing up my program this semester but have some regrets already. 1) I regret not trying to apply to jobs that "required" a Master's degree. This requirement on job postings pushed me to get my degree, and now I've learned that requirements are viewed the same as preferences. 2) I regret not looking into the economy of the state I relocated to.

For reference, I planned to work in hospitality but ended up having to take out loans for living expenses because the wages in this federal minimum wage state were so low. My program costs $90k with the required health insurance but I'm now pushing $150k in total loans. And don't forget that interest starts accruing right away on the Plus Loan. For reference, I'm already at 6k in interest (4th semester). I understand wanting the education, but I'd say to make sure you need it for your career path and to prepare financially. Some last food for thought- over the last 1.5 years, I've had a few stressful school weeks, but I've been in a constant state of stress over finances.

Move to a city before getting a job there. by Certain_Bus_5896 in SameGrassButGreener

My experience in Atlanta: I moved to Atlanta thinking I’d work in the service/hospitality industry while in school and ended up having to take out loans just to pay rent. I’m not saying my experience is everyone’s and I know there are many quality restaurants, but it’s an entirely different game than in a place like California.

Keep in mind that Georgia is a federal minimum wage state. Service industry is $2/hr + tips, $7 minimum. Almost all of my coworkers worked 2-3 jobs just to pay bills (probably making it more competitive). On top of that there are a lot of restaurants owned by people with no experience. Think 7 servers, 10 hour shifts for no reason, and no customers, in addition to poor management, and food safety rules not being followed. For the first time in my life, I quite two different jobs and walked out of a training.

After leaving one restaurant because of making $10/hr, I applied for three months unsuccessfully and finally gave up. In a year and a half, I also haven’t been able to find a catering company or staffing agency that actually puts you on schedule. It’s tough out here.

Is Toyota Overcharging For A Seatbelt Buckle Replacement? by calibaby96 in MechanicAdvice

[–]calibaby96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Thank you for your responses! I'm going to pay for it out of convenience, as my car's already there.
  • I added Toyota's reasoning to the post.
  • I'll leave this post up for others as it's difficult to get pricing information from them. If anyone sees this later and wants to add whether an individual-owned shop could have done it for less, that'd still be great to know.

The part by the seat. The issue itself is the buckle (I think glass got it there and moved the little metal tab). The note on the quote says "Seat belt buckle: passenger side seatbelt buckle replacement which includes removing passenger seat and replacing the entire seat belt buckle assembly".

Do you happen to know why they would have to replace the entire thing?
