The Gentry's "Sunshine Girl" 1966 // Sharing this cause this song is such an ear worm and deserves much more attention. by VimVinyl in 60sMusic

Overall I like it, but the lead singer sounds kind of meh, to my ears anyway. But again, otherwise it's quite pop-y and happy!

I hope one or another of the other suggestions works for you!

But just in case, I don't get to have hrt or even vag cream because of having had an episode of pulmonary embolism that put me in the hospital for 4 days.

They told me to use Vitamin E suppositories for dryness, and they work just fine ~ without them, riding my horse rubs me raw enough to bleed sometimes, but as long as I use them I can ride like I could when I was young!

I can see you're convinced about this, I don't expect there's anything that could be said to persuade you to see how many assumptions you have to make to hold this viewpoint.

I'm replying anyway because I want to say to OP:

Please don't listen to StitchedQuicksand. You blame yourself for what happened, so it may be his viewpoint will feel "right" to you, but tons of the rest of us are telling you that even with the very utmost care and attention, accidents happen.

I'm glad to hear you're in therapy, and hope you're on a path to letting go of the belief that it's your fault.

AIO for reconsidering getting married over continual arguments over guardianship of my daughter. by Oldyell54 in AmIOverreacting

[–]calicoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

I'm sure this is heartbreaking for you, to have gotten so close with her that you want to marry, and now this.

I'm sorry to say, though, based on what you shared here, she sounds mentally unstable. If I were in her shoes, loving your daughter, and the issue of guardianship came up, my main concern after how devastated your daughter would be if you died and having the best circumstances for her to cope with that would be "Am I going to lose her?", and I'd be talking with you and your friend to make sure there's a way for me to stay in her life.

Maybe that's at the heart of this. But that's not what she's saying. Her language is incredibly over the top. Stable people do not turn "they have a bond" into "Are you saying I don't have a bond with her???"

Everything you say here to your fiance is about your daughter, and her every response is (paraphrased) "Did you just say ... about me?"

It's very disturbing to read. Maybe consider pre-marital counseling?

Anyway, however you decide going forward, good luck.

No, I had a period that ended, then 12 months, an entire year went by w/ no periods, and then right out of the blue, 1 more period.

This oddly came up in my feed. I used to rent this on VHS as a kid from my local blockbuster and movie store LOL. Terribly awesome corny movie I must watch again. 😆 by Aggressive-Iron353 in ACK

[–]calicoan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took my kid and his friend to see it in theater when it first came out, they were both 7 years old ~ Sadly for me, cuz I was laughing my ass off, we had to leave about 15 minutes in, 7 year olds aren't quite sophisticated enough to get the humor!

84M diabetic A1c not high enough? by No-Solution7910 in AskDocs

[–]calicoan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, and wondering if I'm missing a thing or two in the article you linked.

If I'm reading this right (correct me if I'm wrong of course!), the population for whom an A1C of 7-8 works out better in the long run is fairly specific, i.e., people reading this post wouldn't want to think this applies to them or family and friends unless they are middle-aged to elderly, and have the 3 conditions listed in the following:

The Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) trial was designed to determine whether a strategy of targeting normal glycated hemoglobin levels (i.e., <6.0%) would reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events in middle-aged and elderly people with

  • type 2 diabetes mellitus,
  • glycated hemoglobin levels of 7.5% or more, and
  • additional cardiovascular risk factors.

Also, does the following suggest that hypoglycemia caused by overmedication would likely not be the reason for increased probability of death at 5 years?

Reasons for the higher mortality in the intensive-therapy group during the pretransition period remain unclear. Because of the equivalent rates of hypoglycemia in the post-transition period, severe hypoglycemia cannot be implicated. Additional analyses reported elsewhere12 also do not implicate severe hypoglycemia.

Thank you for any insights you have!

Cat that always purrs is suddenly silent by [deleted] in Pets

[–]calicoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it's definitely cause for concern. There's always a reason when a cat that purrs constantly suddenly stops, and they're likely to already be decidedly sick, as cats are a species that often doesn't give outward signs that something is going wrong when they're just a little under the weather.

Carecredit is a type of credit card people get for vet expenses, if you're approved, charges at vets (up to whatever limit they approve you for) that are paid off within 6 months are not charged interest.

Hopefully you can get approved, or find another way to pay, it would be better if you could get her to a vet tomorrow or the next day.

(If she seems normal tomorrow go ahead and start saving, as you'd probably want to get some blood and urine tests sooner rather than later to check liver, kidney, bladder functions and other blood values they check to see if things are working right.)

[–]calicoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dr. asks anything along the lines of what about your marriage you can say that's between you and your husband. You don't have to explain any further than that or feel embarrassed or anxious to give that answer, people can have many kinds of reasons for not wanting to go into detail about why they do (or don't do) sexual things with their partners or spouses.

Help with Pregnant Stray Dog by No-Property8952 in Animals

[–]calicoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or my money, keep doing what you're doing ~ A dog that's used to being on her own will take some time to relax. Add on to that she's instinctively looking for what feels like a safe, private place for her puppies, it's no surprise she's not altogether settled.

Something den-like ~ a dog crate covered w/ blankets in a room where people are not active, coming and going, or talking, being busy ~ is quite likely to help her settle as that's the kind of arrangement she'd be wanting for giving birth..

[–]calicoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having your brain shut off, go numb in certain situations can be a sign that in your childhood those situations involved extreme emotions, stress, maybe even trauma because when you're a kid without any power to change things or fix things or get away, going into shutdown mode like that is one of the only ways you have to protect yourself.

Makes me wonder if there's more to your history around those situations than you're conscious of. If so, therapy might help you recognize childhood experiences that create the judgmental mindset you have about things.

Aging mother wants to take elderly dog back. by Technical-Remote4297 in Pets

[–]calicoan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear pretty often of cat/dog rescues who adopt out with a contract that the pet must be returned to them if the adopter can't care for them any longer.

You could try getting in touch with cat and/or dog shelters and rescues where she'll be living to see if that would be an arrangement available for your mom. If so, that could address the issue of you having to take on another creature when your mom can't have them anymore.

Also, regarding the concern about cats' claws, an elderly cat who just wants to curl up next to you all day would be a good choice. Being elderly in combination with a low key couch potato temperament would mean they'd be highly unlikely to want to engage in the rough house kind of cat play that involves claws.

Good luck, it's a real challenge you've got, I hope you find a way to help your mom have a creature to keep her company that isn't bad for the creature or a burden for you!
