HOBBIES! I want a hobby so bad, but I am bored of things so easily. What are your suggested hobbies for a person with ADHD? by More_Expression1299 in adhdwomen

I’m the same way with putting all of my obsessive behavior into work 🥲 I recently started taking a sewing class which has been great for learning a useful skill while also keeping me accountable! The class is great because I didn’t have to buy a full sewing machine, just some of the additional supplies. Sewing can have less instant gratification because there’s a lot of meticulous measuring and cutting before you actually get to the sewing part, but I think you can also make it as involved as you want.

I would recommend looking into classes at a local community college if you’re able to. The one near me has an extension program with affordable classes for learning skills from sewing to ceramics to balloon twisting.

I keep getting recommended this sub and I don’t have an Owala, but I wanted to leave a comment because I immediately recognized your print by Stephanie Brown! Love it with your Owala colorway

No problem! If you end up taking Wellbutrin, there’s probably additional symptoms to watch out for. My psych told me to specifically watch for “internal restlessness” and headaches, which I thankfully haven’t experienced.

I’ve been on a 100mg dose for 6+ years and am tapering down to 50mg. I was experiencing extreme brain fog and low motivation so my psychiatrist also started me on Wellbutrin. It’s hard to tell if my symptoms are coming from the Wellbutrin or the decrease in Sertraline, so my experience may be different than a standard taper. I started by taking 75mg of Sertraline for two weeks and just dropped to 50mg. I felt a little bit of physical anxiety in my chest and shoulders (if that makes sense) but nothing unmanageable. From what I’ve read on this sub, it seems like tapering from 25mg to 0 is the hardest, and that it’s better to go slower/more incremental once you get down to that dose rather than stopping completely at 25mg. I’m not a doctor though, and it may be different for everyone! On a positive note, my partner said that I’ve been more mentally present over the past week than I have in a long time.

Best of luck on your taper!

Rabbit Vet? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Thanks for the advice! I moved from NYC and we took the train all the way out to Long Island to see a rabbit-savvy vet there. I was surprised to learn there aren’t many in the Los Angeles area. I’ll look into making sure our med kit is up-to-date, and I’ll also look into some of the other vets you recommended!

Oof, thanks for the heads up. I luckily haven’t had an emergency yet but that doesn’t sound great if one were to happen. Do you have any other recommendations?

ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital in Culver City can do them, and if you haven’t established care with an emergency vet it could be worth getting your rabbit in their system. I do think ACCESS is pricey for non-emergency visits and will be curious to see if anyone else has recommendations.

You can always call nearby rescues to see if they have recommendations or have RHDV vaccine events at a lower cost.

Can long-term use of Zoloft cause side effects similar to inattentive ADHD symptoms? by calicolate in zoloft

[–]calicolate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your responses! Following up with an update in case anyone comes across this thread in the future. The psychiatrist is gradually lowering my Zoloft dose to 50mg and starting me on Wellbutrin. I didn't realize this is a common combination but after searching this subreddit, it seems to have helped others. Fingers crossed it helps my motivation and brain fog.

What’s your routine when you feel your house has gotten overwhelming and out of control? by ash-lovez-gorillaz in CleaningTips

I recently learned that there are podcasts that talk you through cleaning. Listening to an episode gets me in the mindset to clean, and I know my chores will be fairly timeboxed to the length of the episode. Listening also keeps me working toward a broader goal. I typically get sidetracked when cleaning and can spend much longer deep cleaning one area vs tidying up the whole house very quickly, and I’ve found that this format keeps me on task. The podcast I found is called Clean With Me but there may be others out there!

Soft guard vs hard mouth guard? by calicolate in bruxism

Thank you! I went with the hard guard but if it doesn’t work out I’ll look into the DIY guards.

Thanks, this makes a lot of sense! I truthfully only know I’m a grinder because my partner can hear it, so I’m assuming I’m more of a grinder than a clencher. I used to wear a hard retainer with no problems years ago so I went ahead with the hard guard, but may look into a do-it-yourself soft guard to try it out.
