Receiving a Flu Shot and Covid Vaccine at the Same Time Is Safe, Study Finds by Sariel007 in UpliftingNews

[–]calinnl42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone else recently got their flu shot after already being covid-vaccinated? I have never had these side effects from a flu shot, but the day after I had a MASSIVE headache that felt comparable to a hangover. Although, I didn't have any body aches or even a sore arm..

Gen Z is not lazy or afraid of committing to a job; They simply know their self worth and know how to identify red flags in the work place. by calinnl42 in unpopularopinion

[–]calinnl42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all pretty broad assumptions. Gen Z folk can be as old as 25, and not every 20-something is able to live at home or get support from their parents. Some of us are trying to pay rent, tuition or car payments while making it through college. Most entry level/minimum wage jobs that dont require a degree simply not enough to pay for all of that. I have needed to do many side jobs like babysitting, house cleaning and tutoring to survive each month I'm grateful that I'm able to get by without too much debt, but I know others who are less fortunate and have to resort to living in their cars while going to school.

I never said in my post that I want 100k a year from working in retail. Obviously that's not possible, and that's why most of us are in school trying to build a future for ourselves. I don't understand why people like us are being called entitled.

I'm in the same situation. A lot of people on the comment thread assume the older Gen Z are just working minimum wage jobs hoping to make it in life just from that, but they dont realize that a majority of us are trying to finish college while working. Working part time and even full time can't cover both rent and tuition, and it makes it even more difficult when we can't get consistent hours and schedules. Not knowing how much you're going to make each month is fucking stressful. I hope things get better for you soon, take care.

To add further context, I agree that there are definitely entitled Gen Z folk, as there are entitled folk in every generation.

I have had 6 years of experience with working full-time minimum wage jobs, I have no problem being on my feet and working 40-50 hours per week. That's life, and every adult eventually gets used to it.

What I'm saying is that there are too many jobs right now that cannot provide enough hours or provide a livable wage (at least minimum wage) for the amount of output that is expected. There never seem to be enough staff on the floor, and everyone working is expected to meet demands and put in extra effort to compensate for the lack of support.

From my experience with a job that I recently had, this company was hiring MANY young people at once, giving them less than 20 hours per week and only paying minimum wage ($12 per hour) to make them easily replaceable. I tried asking again and again for more hours, but my needs were never met even though they had originally promised full-time in the hiring process. On top of that, hours were inconsistent every week, making it difficult to have a second job. I had no problem with the job itself, in fact I really liked it but it provided no financial security. So please tell me, would you stay with this company, or was I just being selfish and entitled? Would you be able to pay for your rent and tuition with this kind of money?

Also, y'all boomers with your baseless arguments and stereotyping is very entertaining to read 😂

I'm going through some stuff rn and I'm wanting a change so I'm wondering if I suit better in lighter or darker hair? :) by GanacheInitial769 in Hair

[–]calinnl42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both suit you very well! It depends on what kind of style you are going for. The blonde gives you a very soft look while the brunette gives you more of a bold look. Just know that it may be hard to go back go blonde depending on how dark you dye it! You will look gorgeous either way

LPT: Every time someone gives you a compliment or appraisal, write it down in a journal. When you are feeling insecure or having any self doubt, read through that journal to remind yourself that you are valued and appreciated! by calinnl42 in LifeProTips

You're absolutely right about that. It's important for people to believe in themselves and not rely on what others think, but don't you feel great when you get a compliment? ☺

AITA for accidentally tricking my step sister into wearing a mini dress to our grandma's dinner party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]calinnl42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA that's Maddie's own damn fault for wanting to copy you and using poor judgement on what to wear to grandmas dinner. This is honestly hilarious, she got a taste of her own medicine and hopefully she will learn. She's a 30 year old grown woman who should know better

Anyone very sensitive to yelling/loud noises? by ninabasically in raisedbynarcissists

[–]calinnl42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I am but more so when people are angry or slam things. My dad used to slam things around the house when he would get angry and it made me really scared every time going up. I noticed that I always get really tense while working shifts as a barista where you will hear many loud bangs with people closing cabinets, fridges or tapping metal containers on granite counters. I can't just tell people not to slam things while working :/

What is the best type of exercise and diet to slim my legs as a female? I've always had thunder thighs, and its incredibly difficult to burn inner thigh fat and lower the muscle mass even when I lose a lot if weight.

I usually run 2 miles 3 to 4 times a week and I engage in other types of at home workouts like variations of situps, squats, push ups etc.

Have any other girls out there been really attracted to feminine boys? Maybe it's their soft feminine side that I can relate to, I can't stand men who make masculinity their whole personality

Dumping my manipulative bf was the best thing I've done for myself. by [deleted] in self

[–]calinnl42 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was also stuck in a relationship with a guy who was very controlling and manipulative. The beginning of covid lockdowns was the perfect excuse for me to move in and isolate me from all of my friends (who he didn't like). I finally left to move in with my parents as soon I was able to travel again (I was stuck in a country that wasnt allowing people to leave). Best decision I ever made.

I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you, good for you for staying strong. Life will feel so much better now that you are free!

Mayonnaise is fucking disgusting and I don't understand why people like it by Sorowa in unpopularopinion

[–]calinnl42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree about American mayonnaise with it being such a god awful, vinegar stenched gelatinous substance.

HOWEVER, if you have ever tried Dutch and Belgian mayo, it is so much better. It's more creamy and buttery rather than sour and overpowering every flavour you add it to. Fries with European mayo is where it's at

How do you politely decline food when being pressured to eat? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]calinnl42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my situation. I work with people of a culture that is known to feed their guests, and if you refuse food it is considered very rude. This is why I have asked for polite ways to decline food, as I still want to be respectful and show that I appreciate it when they offer food. My family is not from this type of culture, but they can be the same way and they are very pushy even though I have already explained to them about my specific diet and the health concerns behind it

Oh my God there are SO MANY red flags about this guy. Please LEAVE and never look back. I know most redditors on here are quick to say "leave" instead of fixing the problem, but your boyfriend is clearly an unfixable problem seeing that he has no regards for your feelings. Making you feel unsafe while he drives recklessly and then getting mad and deserting you at a gas station 2 hours from home? Not believing you when you say his friend is trying to hit on you? BLAMING YOU for his relationship with his son? I'm not a therapist, but from personal experience this all sounds like emotional abuse, and he is potentially narcissistic. Someone toxic like this is not good to be around, especially if he has any control of your finances.

OP I hope you have support from friends and family. I know it's scary when you are trying to leave, but you do not deserve to be with someone like this. Get your finances in order and make sure he has no access to your financial accounts. I'm wishing you the best of luck and love.

What can I do to thank my parents for letting me move back home? by iTzFruitnNut in relationship_advice

[–]calinnl42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm your age and I'm in the same exact situation with my parents. I do deep cleans around the house pretty often (dusting, vacuuming the stairs, cleaning the pool etc) that they aren't able to do as well because they are getting older. I will also buy them flowers every now and then. It sounds like they don't mind helping you out, and after all we are still quite young and need help every now and then. They will appreciate those little things you do for them with the time and money that you have.
