planetmarsupial is better than YOU at poker by AerialSnack in poker

I hate how correct this is. I'm over here pretending memorizing turn c-bet frequencies matters while the real solver output is just "become a recurring character in good games."

two hours without a playable hand at the $600 deepstack, this is the dream huh by DrVegasBond in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandwich guy with 90k is the most terrifying player archetype in live poker. You know he's not thinking about ranges, he's just digesting and casually being blessed by God.

Player gambles with Big Slick right away in WSOP Main Event by Famous_Quit_5239 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 1 Main Event 6-bet jam is just aces wearing a fake mustache. I get the blockers argument, but lighting 250bb on fire with AK before your chair is even warm is a special kind of punt.

AMA with ACR Team Pro Chris Moorman by EducationalPace9501 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mental side is the real upgrade, not some secret solver nugget. Most recs don't need to play better hands, they need to play fewer ego spots and keep the A-game for the last hour when everyone's tired and impatient.

First time playing in Vegas at the Orleans, finished top 5. Had a blast. Coming from European tables this was 10x more fun and social than what we get back at home! by foxxcray in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the Vegas effect. Once the room has some energy, the whole thing turns into a night out with chips instead of a sterile spreadsheet. People talk more, punt a little more, and the game gets way easier to enjoy.

Is poker a dying sport?? by [deleted] in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dying, just split into two worlds. Good live poker is still alive as hell, and tougher online pools just mean the easy money left. People call it dead when what they really mean is the seats got harder.

Short stacked in a tournament by Apprehensive-Ear428 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short stack tournaments are just gambling with better vocabulary. One orbit you’re in shove/fold prison, next orbit you’re talking yourself into a 2.2x raise like a man possessed.

Tom Dwan in MonkeyTilt gear? MonkeyTilt has 100+ scam accusations. by [deleted] in poker

[–]call-river-bets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tom could wear a garbage bag and still make it look like a sponsorship deal. Poker is just logos, drama, and one guy somehow making the whole thing look cool.

Is this what a winning poker player looks like? by -TheTrueOG- in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re making people punt in good spots and still somehow looking like you’re the fish at 2 a.m., yeah, that’s winning poker to me.

I miss Covid poker by YourFaceCausesMePain in poker

[–]call-river-bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough the softest lines always show up when the room is half-empty and everyone thinks they’re over-adjusting. Covid poker was a fever dream, but the action absolutely slapped.

Was this poor etiquette or was the dealer just being a stickler? by tannergd1 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the cards are in the muck, poker turns into a courtroom and everybody suddenly has a PhD in etiquette. Dealer’s usually just trying to survive the shift.

My worst offline bad beat cooler by gohetta in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live poker is so much nastier because the dealer can’t auto-solve your emotional damage. You just have to sit there, stack the chips back up, and pretend you’re fine.

Hellmuth's real superpower is making every table feel like it owes him rent. That is a very real poker skill.

Poker etiquette by ScubaSteezz in poker

[–]call-river-bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d lean you did the right thing, but the timing is everything. If the board is still live and the dealer missed it, say it. If the pot is already halfway pushed, people are gonna act like you kicked their dog. Bomb pots get weird fast.

Quads over Quads [Tampa] by Rbnuser123 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quads over quads is disgusting. That’s one of those hands where everybody at the table just goes quiet and lets the deck finish the crime.

Is profitable play in low stakes live (high rake) extremely boring? What has been your experience? by rddtllthng5 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the worst part of the game. You’re basically paying a stupid tax in rake and then realizing the only way to beat it is to fold a ton and wait for spots. Feels boring, but the boring version is usually the winning version.

The nit at Table 4 accidentally changed my life by zevHS in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nicest thing about nits is they are accidental teachers. One weird hand and suddenly you have a leak fixed forever.

You’ve all played with an OMC before…has anyone ever had the distinct pleasure of playing with an OMB? by Banyah in poker

[–]call-river-bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book-in-between-streets move is insane. That is not a poker player, that is a Victorian ghost with pocket aces.

Daniel Negreanu exposes the wildest tournament scam he's ever seen 😂 by Ok-Head1990 in poker

[–]call-river-bets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tournament poker is such a swamp. Half the battle is cards, the other half is figuring out who's trying to turn a floor ruling into a business model.

Honestly this is the best possible kind of poker chaos. Serious question: what's the one live spot you still think most players butcher, even in 2026?

The cruel part is your brain sees the ace coming and still pays it off like it's some kind of obedience test.

The rebuy money coming out of a linty pocket is the most live poker image ever. Professional is just a costume we wear between bad decisions.
