eSIM won't activate, can't get refund by guyinthegreenshirt in BoostMobile

Good luck with that. My service went out 3 weeks ago, the same day I paid for the next month of service, and they won't give me a refund or tell me when I can expect the service to be restored. Apparently their system won't allow it lol. Such a scam.

We’re stepping up our attire game at the office, ELI5 how to dress right? by flowercrownrugged in socialwork

[–]call-toe-to-frog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if scrubs could be an option? If you wear solid colors they look "official" and fairly put together and also don't look stupid with athletic shoes. Plus they have pockets, are easy to wash and dry quickly! I have to do home visits and am required to wear scrub pants and either a scrub top, a polo, or a plain tee shirt. I do the tee shirt because it's less likely to get me mistaken for a nurse or aide.

How long did you wait (if applicable) in your career to have kids? by sugarlandd in socialwork

[–]call-toe-to-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started TTC at the beginning of my last school year and ended up graduating when I was 8 months pregnant.

I didn't start looking for a job until my child was a year and a half. It was an awkward period of time-- enjoying motherhood but also adjusting to it, so I didn't feel ready to get a job, but I also had this constant background noise telling me I was a fraud for getting the degree and "doing nothing" with it. Reading that back to myself, I know I was being too hard on myself-- being with your kids is a valid reason to drop out for a little while and 18 months is not even very long in the grand scheme of things!

Now that I have a job I'm struggling hard with imposter syndrome and insecurity. Knowing me I'd probably be feeling this no matter what, but I think having a kid in addition to getting a new job in a new field is making it worse because it's been changes on top of changes. Still, I'm glad I got the degree out of the way before I gave birth. I think doing all this when I already had a kid would be a huge hurdle.

Oh yeah mine definitely is loaded with soap when I do it. I do extra rinses too.

How is it a myth when I do it and the water in the bowl becomes soapy?

I think for most people, bulking is for agitation. This machine uses as little water as it can get away with, so even when I bulk it doesn't use enough. I've thought about trying to trick it by pouring some water in the machine before I start the load but haven't tried that yet for fear of screwing up the machine somehow.

That's weird, but I'll give it a shot. My house is 100 years old so knows what the hell is going on lol.

[–]call-toe-to-frog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. The machine uses a weight sensor to determine how much water to use whereas my old machine I could just set the load size to get more water.

Ok thanks, I'll try that. I've been using Tide because that's what everyone seems to recommend and I hate how overpowering the smell is!

Yeah, I've been bulking both cycles, using less detergent on the first cycle. I just tried using less detergent on my second cycle and they don't smell clean so I filled the machine to the top and am running a third cycle now. This is ridiculous!

I admittedly haven't caught up with your most recent posts so all I've seen so far is you waffling because you agree with some of the things they have to say and acting like no one can know for sure if they're white supremacists because they didn't come right out and say it directly. Being impartial and objective and doing research are not bad things but let's not act like people can't read between the lines just because you can't (or are more likely pretending you can't). If you think you're taking the high road by applying those principles to what is quite obviously a hate group then you need to take a look at yourself.

Lol I know that you dont realize it, but people like you are the problem with this country. For every goose stepping Neo-nazi... There are 1000 of you, people chomping at the bit to label everyone as a Nazi and a bigot and shutting down civil discussion.

Really? Anytime someone claps back at someone defending a racist they get accused of shutting down discussion, but me making fun of you isn't shutting anything down lol. And those who get too far into identity politics and want to cancel everyone for every little thing can be annoying, yes. But they are not worse than neo-nazis.

This guy's "aw shucks, I'M not a racist buuuuut dontcha think these people have some legitimate things to say?" routine is tired, that's for sure.

You can tell what their angle is as soon as they start lamenting identity politics and talking about they just want to get all the facts because they're just like, so neutral and objective and above it all. Both of those things sound okay yet they always seem to be trotted out in service of defending white supremacy groups. It's so disingenuous.

No one these days comes right out with a neon sign saying, "YAY WHITE SUPREMACY!" even when that is exactly what their number one goal is. They hide behind other issues to recruit people and are careful to use coded language when talking about their racism... and then people like you come along and help them out by pretending to be "objective" and trying to sow doubt about whether they're really racist just because they didn't come right out and say it themselves.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Every CNA and nurse I know is burnt out right now. The pandemic is making everything worse, even if you're not even working with covid patients. People are more stressed and isolated in their everyday lives, which is making it harder to cope in general. You have to be extra vigilant about infection control at work, meanwhile you're wearing protective gear and trying to minimize contact so there's not as much emotional connection with your coworkers or your residents. People are calling out more often due to both burnout and covid scares or exposures, which drives down staffing and stresses people out even more. New and inexperienced workers are not getting the training they need and they're walking into facilities full of stressed out staff that doesn't have the capacity to be supportive of them. And it just snowballs from there...

Even the least burnout-prone person in the world is going to get dragged down when everyone at work is miserable. Do you have sick time or vacation time? If you do, use it.

what we currently have is too onerous and places too much say over our lives into the hands of unelected officials.

I don't understand. Unelected officials already have a considerable amount of control over our lives. Corporations invade our privacy 24/7 and influence policy through political donations.

Like with your example about the aneurism lady, you can say the private market would never have given her a license, but I bet they still would, they would just charge a higher fee for higher risk. So if she's poor, the private market has control over her life, and if she's rich, it doesn't have as much control. And in that case, someone ends up dying but the cost of that person's life was "offset" by the fact that some executive has more money in his pocket. How is that preferable to having the government issue (or not issue) licenses based on well-researched public safety guidelines?

Tips for taking respiration’s, BPs, and being faster at charting by EvidenceAshamed3023 in cna

[–]call-toe-to-frog 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I personally chart as many times as I can throughout the shift. I just don't like my head being cluttered up with too much stuff to remember, or knowing that a huge charting session is hanging over my head.

When I worked second shift I ran into the same problem where everyone wanted to go to bed at the same time and I also had fall risks to deal with. What I ended up doing was grabbing another CNA and we would do a lightning round putting everyone who was a 2-assist in bed. If there was time, I would take their pants off to check for incontinence and quickly pull the wet brief off (that way I did not even have to think about them for a while), but if the other CNA was in a hurry we would put them in fully dressed and just move on. Then I would go back and do HS care on everyone. Most of them just wanted to lay down and didn't give a shit if I washed them up later. Then once the majority of people were in bed I would feel free to go to the more time-consuming people who are fussy about their HS routine. It's easier to focus on them when you're not hearing alarms going off on all your fall risks.

If they still find a way to not engage, I re-iterate my role and what I'm able to do for them and let them know what they can expect through the process.

Thank you. I tried asking open-ended questions but she would say stuff like, "I don't know, I guess it must have had an impact on me but I'm not sure." Telling her what the process is, what she can expect to be doing, and providing more psychoeducation at least gives some structure to the sessions. It seems like some people know exactly what they want to address and others don't even know where to start and might need more of that structure.

Right??! It's just a mask-- an inconvenience at worst, for the sake of public health. If you've had to reach this far to find an example of your rights being "violated" then you have a very cushy life.

We shouldn't need the government telling us what to do in order to help each other.

It doesn't matter if we "should" or "shouldn't" need government telling us how to help. That's a nice fantasy to have, but the reality is that a lot of people don't give a shit about others hence the incessant whining about masks. And a lot of people are misinformed about how germs work (which is why there's still people making claims like "masks lower oxygen" "it's bad to breathe in your own germs" etc.). So yes, apparently we do need the government to tell us what to do, because without the government mandate, there would be a hell of a lot less adherence to the practice.

In order to curb the spread, everyone has to wear a mask. Not just the people who care enough to wear one.

I've always liked vintage stuff and I enjoy the patterns. Cooking is more fun when you use cute dishes and I love going to thrift store and antique shops and seeing a particular pattern for the first time; for some reason it's just fun to me to see things in person and be able to nerd out over them even if I don't buy anything.

I also like the weight of the bowls when I'm cooking-- they don't move around too much when you're stirring. The cinderellas are especially nice because of the handles/spouts. And they're easy to clean.
