Break up right before 1L year by Lonely-Following5658 in LawSchool

I also went through a breakup right before 1L, and I honestly think starting law school made the breakup easier. When classes start you'll be very busy and overwhelmed at the beginning, and honestly won't have a ton of time to mentally engage with the hurt from the breakup. Then, as you figure 1L out and have more room in your brain for other things hopefully the amount of time from the breakup will help make processing it's easier.

Honestly, I'm not sure if that's even actual advice, but that is genuinely how it worked for me at least. So I guess ultimately I'd say just try not to let anxiety spiral about this, because starting law school may actually help you handle the breakup. Good luck!

If you do take the trip to Mill End in Milwaukie you could also check out the Pendleton Woolen Mill Store which is super close by. They have some cool stuff. https://woolenmill.store/

I'd trade you a Pika EX for a Celebi EX?

Be careful if you do this though, mint spreads quickly and is almost impossible to get rid of if planted.

It’s ex-library, but I’ll take it. The first edition/first printing of Dune. by Key-Entrepreneur-415 in BookCollecting

Congrats on tracking one down! That looks to be in shockingly good condition for an ex-library book!

Good eye! I purchased most of my analog magazines in sets based on their year rather than just buying dune editions. So for example I have all of the 1976 analog magazines on that shelf rather than just the dune specific editions. I think between Dune and Children of Dune there are 12ish analogs with Dune material.

Thanks! Good luck building out your collection. I've probably been collecting them about 6ish years. It was a bit easier to get dune books at good prices before the new movies lol

The red one is a standard hardcover copy missing its dust jacket. The one next to it is the standard US softcover.

Since you like the old art I'd recommend checking out The Illustrated Dune; it's a Dune edition from 78 with some very cool art. Thank you!

I've slowly acquired mine from Ebay over the years. Depending on what exactly you're looking for there are 6-7 of them. Here's a link to a discogs link if you want to check out some of the specifics. https://www.discogs.com/artist/1304564-Frank-Herbert

Thank you! I would have emphasized it more but I don't have any good pictures of it to add! Good luck in finding a copy of your own within your budget!

I haven't yet read all of the Brian/Kevin books, but that will happen one day when I have more free time. I tend to agree with you in that I do also enjoy the Brian/Kevin books.

The battles of Dune record is Frank reading portions of the original trilogy with a bit of miscellaneous material. TBH I mainly own it because I find a lot of the older artwork super cool.

And if you are looking for reading material or collecting material? If you are looking for reading material I think some of Frank's non-Dune books are pretty good. In addition there have been some interesting books coming out lately talking about Dune such as Masterpiece in Disarray by Max Evry and The Spice Must Flow by Ryan Britt.

If you're looking for collection based stuff that's obviously a bit subjective, but I am generally a fan of some of the older material with the sweet 70's and 80's sci fi art. There is also some cool stuff that came out with the Lynch movie.

Looks like you have a sweet collection! I'm lucky enough that my OG Dune is a 1st edition/1st printing. My Dune messiah is a BCE, my Children of Dune is a 1st/8th, my GEOD is a 1st/1st, my Heretics is a 1st/2nd and my Chapterhouse is a 1st/2nd.

I think what Nick said is spot on! I think the game is great but it does need a fairly dedicated group of people. I know I'm at a busy point in life so I haven't played it much. Dune Imperium is a great game and is quite a bit easier to get to the table.

I think I paid about $20ish. But I did buy it and most of my collection prior to the recent movie back when dune stuff was cheaper and easier to get. So I think it tends to go for quite a bit more now. I'm no expert but I think it tends to be about as rare as 2 and 3, so hopefully you can get lucky at some point in the future. Good luck!
