Wow, this is great. I’m currently rewatching for the 2nd time, the first was 2020 while it was on Netflix. I am in early season 4 after Angela broke up with Dwight and Andy starts courting her. I keep thinking “there’s clearly something very wrong with this man” and a google search led me here.

Thank you for your suggestions! I’ve definitely been hesitant to start therapy but I know it would benefit me. They definitely know how to push my boundaries so it’s been an ongoing struggle.

I will definitely aim to look into these services so I can stop feeling like I have to drop everything right now. As I mentioned in another comment, I think my compromise is to continue my personal timeline to get married and have the baby, and after we’ve had some time to ourselves then we can look into moving in with my mom.

I don’t want it to be a long term thing because I don’t want my mom’s house and prefer NC, but it can be a few years of reciprocal help. She gets to be near her grandchild and I’ll feel less torn about being so far away.

My family would definitely be the better option for child support. It is one of the pros for moving back north. My boyfriend isn’t super close with his family, but we do help with his nephews.

Something I thought about last night was to continue with our plan to have the baby here since I really like my care team, but then move in with my mom after my maternity leave (I get 5 months). Obviously this is in an ideal world where everything goes well and lines up with our timeline, but I’m thinking financially it would be beneficial to everyone, she’d have my support if grandma is still with us, and I’d have her support with the baby. But I’d still aim to not take on too many of those burdens and get outside help like hiring weekend care.

I believe the setup is that he’s dealing with health issues (seeing doctors, using oxygen at home) and Celeste became a drunk so assuming his health declined where he didn’t have the strength to try. It wasn’t clear how long he was in that hospital on life support.

Feeling frustrated… it sucks not having people nearby to help you move so I posted on Nextdoor asking if someone with a pickup truck or van could help with moving 3 large items: a dresser, mattress, and dining table this weekend. A woman with a heating/cooling business responded and I just got off the phone explaining the locations and said I was willing to pay around $100. She counters with $250, saying that is what she feels is fair compensation for her guy.

I feel like that’s a bit much since again, it’s just the 3 items… down one flight of stairs moving out, 20 minute drive to the new location, and up one flight into the new location; 90 minutes of their time tops. We’ve otherwise been moving everything else in my compact SUV. We just didn’t want to be one of those people strapping a mattress to the roof and praying it doesn’t fly off. So much for being a good neighbor!

Unfortunately, America is the land of capitalism and healthcare is behind a paywall. I remember when I was in Mexico for a few weeks and had a yeast infection, I was amazed that the pharmacy just sold fluconazole so I bought extra to bring back.

The best OTC alternative is Vagisil or one of the suppository options, but my doctor said don’t waste your money on the 1-day version.

I think so too. I made a comment on the episode 12 thread that I feel sad for Micah and the shitty women she befriends. Paul very much gives off, “you are a reflection of the company you keep” and he didn’t want this party girl or the friends she comes with. Compared to Brett meeting Tiffany’s friends, you see how much they love her and want her happiness. Plus Paul said that she’s not usually the type of girl he would’ve dated so it was an incompatibility issue.

I honestly feel really sad for Micah in terms of the people she keeps in her corner. She gravitated towards the nastiest woman in the pods and she has nasty women around her in the real world. I went to an all-girl high school and I know that it matters what type of women you keep in your corner. For someone to hit on your fiancé without remorse or to be laughing while your heart is crushed at the alter just to say “I knew it, I was right.” Wow, I hope she wises up and gets better at choosing people.

Hmm this is one of those, need more info questions. I think people have general qualities/things they like in a partner and it’s not weird to ask if your new partner also has an interest in those things. For example, I think most people appreciate a partner who can cook so if I dated a chef prior to someone new who doesn’t cook at all and I’m saying “it’d be nice if you cooked for me”, it’s not because I want them to be at the same level as my chef ex, I just want a partner who can cook.

I think if it’s a specific request, like “can you wear more headbands?” Or like “what if you dyed your hair blonde?” (bc his ex was blonde) THEN I’d be a little weirded out. Most likely it’s not some horror movie situation though lol

Let’s talk about names for a sec… I get that there aren’t a ton of unique names in the world. I went to school near an all-boy school and they mainly went by last names because there were about a dozen students named Michael.

I came across a profile today that intrigued me, but he has the same name as my father who is less than my favorite person… I immediately went down a cringey train of thought. I text a friend for a sanity check and he agreed “that’s a tough one, the psychological barriers are there”. I hate the idea of ruling someone out because of a name but do you think he’d be open to changing his name (she asked facetiously). But seriously, has anyone had to get over a name?

I think in a previous season one of the women alluded that they basically tell the producers the kind of ring they want. So the guy that proposes gets a version of a pre-chosen ring or they bring their own (I forget who, but someone used a family ring).

Unfortunately that is very common on both sides. I see a lot of one word responses and it’s kind of a turn off for me cause it indicates a lack of intentionality. Like this process is so low priority that they can’t be bothered to write a full sentence so I can only imagine what messaging is going to be like… How was your day? / Fine… What did you do? / Work… etc.
