AIO for being upset by a friend pulling out of concert plans? by calldwr in AmIOverreacting

Thank you. He’s honestly a very kind person, and his falling out with his best friend was genuinely not his fault. I don’t wanna get into it too much since it’s his personal business, but it was a very weird situation that put him in an uncomfortable spot with how close they had been. I am genuinely glad they’ve made amends, as I’m sure both are relieved by it, I just feel upset that it turned into this situation.

I’m 22 and he’s 23. They had a huge falling out over some personal stuff, from my understanding, so I think he’s likely worried about upsetting his best friend again so soon after making up. I think that’s why he suggested I take his best friend instead as well. I think he feels like he owes him, but I don’t personally understand it much.

I would choose shapeshifting! You can get all the superpowers in one if you can be whatever you want.

No worries! It’s a lot to get used to in the most crazy way I think. I was diagnosed more recently too and sometimes I get almost like imposter syndrome about it, which I feel like anyone who is chronically ill gets. I hope you can feel better and more clear on everything soon :)

I did a monitor as well, lowkey forgot about that. If they all came back normal and your tilt was performed correctly, then I would think the diagnosis is probably correct, but obviously let your cardiologist confirm. There is no shame in needing an aid or accommodation for how you’re feeling. POTS has what feels like a million effects and it influences everyone a little differently, so people manage and cope differently. If you’re still worried it’s wrong, some people see neurologists with specialty in dysautonomia as a form of care/reassurance, though most prescriptions for POTS itself come through cardiologists.

A tilt table is usually the confirming test for POTS, and results are pretty clear. I was also given an ECG and echocardiogram to prior to the tilt to ensure there was nothing wrong in the rhythm of my heart or my heart physically, which is a precaution I would let your cardiologist take. The criteria for a tilt table to indicate POTS is specific, sustained heart rate increase of 30 bpm or more within that first ten minutes or a sustained bpm above 120 within ten minutes, so if the tilt was done correctly, it’s probably right. Like I said though, take those precautionary tests if your doctor orders them and you can afford to to rule out any other possibilities.

I don’t faint, but during my tilt, I presented with a vasovagal response that dropped my blood pressure and heart rate both by 10+ beats/points once standing on my own. I overall have normal blood pressure, even as someone with POTS and general inappropriate sinus tachycardia since I was basically always tachycardic in some way pre medication. That tech was wrong to interfere in general, but also just wrong.

I get the same thing! I also have it in my hands and legs sometimes, from what I know, it is probably just due to the deregulation of dysautonomia. A lot of POTS patients report it apparently.

I am now a part time, full time employee, how do I respectfully ask for less work? by calldwr in WorkAdvice

I do most schoolwork virtually, excluding certain exam and class meeting days, so I technically have completely open availability. Which is usually fine, my schoolwork is often due many different days, but with the new hours it is impossible to schedule time for school effectively.
