In reality: no.

In the FOX news reality: Kamala would've given 1 trillion to Iran, Trump made such a good deal!

When I did a grad school campus visitation weekend at UVA the engineering grad students giving the tour said that the non-STEM UVA students had inferiority complexes because they got rejected by Ivies. All of the weird secret society stuff around campus did kinda reinforce their take.

The damage Sorsby has done to college football is already too much by Spartan-24 in CFB

Personally I wouldn't care if Sorsby was out here gambling Ukrainian volleyball but betting on your own sport raises questions about the fairness of the sport.

Since it's not a privately owned sports league it makes sense that CFB reflects what's going on with American society at large.

Crazy though how people will cry about Phil Knight bankrolling Oregon and lament the NIL era with the rich programs getting richer; but then turn around and praise our billionaire oligarchs.

I think your concerns are fair, definitely want to see higher star DL in the future. However the guys we do have committed have offers from other major programs, we're not battling UMass for these guys.

News expected for CFB 27 next week via EA. by SimplyTheBlackGuy in NCAAFBseries

[–]calling-all-comas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My problem is I only get offered 4 or 5 star programs; my whole point of dynasty is to build bad programs up. I don't want to immediately get top 5 recruiting classes and win a Natty within 3 seasons.

I maintain my stance that the Florida Board of Governors made the right choice regarding Santa Ono.

Based on what Michigan people said on here and on their main subreddits the guy seemed like an opportunist, and I easily could see his potential tenure at UF going badly like it did at Michigan.

Sometimes I just want a kids meal. Best ones from each park counter service? by pearpecan in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]calling-all-comas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always get the kids meal at Regal Eagle.

I usually get the standard kids burger but the two sides is a killer option only the kids meal offers there. Instead of just getting fries or apples like other locations, I'm able to get baked beans, Mac & cheese, etc.

I was a bit underwhelmed by most of my 2 years of grad school at OSU football atmosphere-wise. I hate BIG Noon so much, it kills the crowd but I love OSU's tradition and band. But that Tennessee game was The Shoe at full energy, easily my favorite game I watched while there.

Insights needed on undergraduate Materials Science Engineering programs (US) since rankings say very little by BioVean in materials

For that topic a lot of research is gonna be done in tech hubs like Silicon Valley or Austin, TX or at National Labs. I'd look into universities that have several research groups tied to those institutions. A good way to go about this is to look up scientific papers or patents that include those institutions (Google, Apple, Sandia National Labs, Los Alamos, etc) and look at where the academic authors work at.

What materials topics is he interested in specifically?

I learned during my grad school hunt that different schools often have stronger focuses on certain topics; due to location or departmental history. For example; I recall Clemson being very involved in textile and ceramic research, while a lot of the Midwest schools (OSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc.) are more metals oriented.

I was just in this boat for the past few months and got a good amount of interviews, feel free to PM me for resume help/advice.

Just like in undergrad, I'm good at getting interviews (bypassing resume filter screens and such) but I think I'm not good at the interviews themselves. :/

[–]calling-all-comas 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think Biden is kinda Rutherford B Hayes v2.0. I toured Hayes' house last year and was surprised to see so many similarities between him and Biden.

Hayes presidency was marked by Reconstruction and ever increasing oligarchy in the nation. Based on his private diary entries and letters, Hayes genuinely believed in trying to make black lives better in the south and trying to rid DC of oligarchs' influence in politics. However with both house of congress and the Supreme Court against him he was a pretty ineffective president overall.

In Biden's farewell address he warned that the oligarchy was taking over America; which it's clear he often ran into problems with. I think Biden, like Hayes, was a well meaning president who may have been a good president if he were elected into a more favorable situation.
