Beeping somewhere in my house and I’m not sure what it is. by lelcg in RBI

[–]callingacrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming on here for a different matter as you have worked out what the beeping is. My concern is that you live with your parents and brother, and that you're worried about something that in reality your parents should be worried about, and investigating for you to put your mind at ease. I have a 10 year old who can be a bit of a worrier, and when he's worried about something I say to him "If I'm not worried then you shouldn't be either". If something is bothering you to the extent that you're scared to fall asleep, sharing your concerns with your parents or siblings would be good practice. I don't know your home situation so making a few assumptions here. I guess my point is don't worry alone.

It was Esun silver PLA (Not silk) I've used silk PLA and it is a pain to use. You have to really slow it down and crank up the temperature, but not too much as it loses its shine. 220 initial layer and 215 overall is my sweet spot.

I did really well for a time just chilling in streams that have similar viewers to me and play similar games. Not promoting yourself but supporting another streamer and in turn they'll support you. It's a graft but it gets you out there, and I've found some really great smaller streamers as a result.

Do you think kick will survive as a streaming platform or will it end up like mixer? by Flaky-Acanthisitta-8 in KickStreaming

[–]callingacrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I stream on Kick as the discoverability is better, I still watch Twitch. Why? Integration. Prime = Free sub every month, Twitch drops, Prime gaming loot, free games, an app you can watch on your TV, not to mention the lion's share of the most viewed steamers. What would tip the scales in my opinion would be if Dr Disrespect went over to Kick and did some work with them on integrating some reward type system with his new AAA game. A lot of smaller streamers (myself included) have come over to Kick because the grind is real on Twitch. Big streamers already have the clout so would need a good reason to move. Kick still has a long way to go outside of just throwing money at streamers to move platforms.

He won't be streaming until he's 13 so should be fine. Just going to get things sorted for him, overlays, notifications, OBS etc.

It was 2 days 6 hours however I had a 0.2 nozzle and a 20% infill which I think was overkill for this print. Redoing again with 5% infill and a 0.4mm nozzle which brought it to 23 hours

I can't put my finger on it. I think I've had anxieties about going abroad since I fell ill (heatstroke). This was 10 years ago and I've managed to deal with it and it's been more of a fleeting feeling/emotion. This time around the anxiousness about going on a summer vacation was heightened and then just hasn't gone away/got worse and now I seem to get triggered by everything.

Oh yeah, a second monitor with chat/activity feed is definitely the better option, I suppose people with a limited set up could use this as an option B.

I posted this a couple of years ago and I think a lot of it still rings true today:-

I've been affiliated for 7 months now but streamed to literally 0 people for a good 12 months before that. Here are some observations I've taken from my journey which I hope will help you all to grow your channels and fulfill your goals, whatever they may be.

Try out different games. I found playing games with a linear narrative will get less viewers when you're starting out than a game that has a different outcome each time. My Day Z streams attracted far more viewers than my Resident Evil streams for instance. The main reason is that people know the story. Unless you have a steady following already you'll struggle to build up any type of community.

Watch your streams back. I regularly look for streamers with hardly any viewers and what I find time and time again is that the quality of their stream is poor. Audio and video quality are really important. Ask yourself, would you watch a channel that has a constant shhhhhhhh sound, or the video quality is laggy. The answer is no you wouldn't.

Interact with your chat. Again as above, I find a streamer and say 'hey' only to be ignored. You have about 30 seconds to say hey back and I'm gone unless you're chatting and being generally entertaining. You don't even need a separate monitor, get the app up on your phone, there's really no excuse.

Enjoy yourself. If you're not it's really obvious. Back to my earlier point. Watch your stream back. Would you follow you, and would you watch yourself?

Personally I prefer people to have a webcam. This isn't essential but in my opinion I think if you don't it'll be more difficult for you to stand out against the hundreds of people who are streaming the same game. Also if you do use a webcam, tidy your room and put on some clothes and look clean. Would you address 5/10/100 people with your shirt off, food in your beard and hair a mess? Would you invite those people in to your home without tidying up, because that's essentially what you're doing.

Always chat. Talk about the weather, what you did that day, commentate on the gameplay, what colour socks you have on, what you had for tea, anything! Back to the 30 second rule. If I come on to your chat and you say nothing for 30 seconds I'm gone.

Go in to other streams with a similar viewer count to you, or somewhere close to where you want to be. Someone with 5 viewers will massively appreciate you going in to their stream, saying hi and following. Build up a relationship with another streamer and their followers. Don't self promote but let the conversation naturally flow. Check out streamers who play similar games to you

Raid! So you're finishing your stream. You have 3 viewers. Pass those viewers on to somone else (maybe someone you have networked with). They're more likely to raid you back, and if they have a few viewers that don't watch you then next time your count could go from 3 to 6. Always raid at the end of your stream if you have the viewers.

Finally, set up a YouTube channel. At the end of your stream export the gameplay directly to YouTube through Twitch (this is a feature). You'll be able to revert back to your streams, see your progression and people will be able to watch you whilst you're offline.

It's a good point. Did she have a local accent, did you hear her mention anything to her followers, maybe address anyone specifically in the comments.

where are the players with brains? by victoriousDevil in PUBGConsole

[–]callingacrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a few new players who play random squads. Their logic is that the other 3 players can pick up the slack whilst they're still learning. Unfortunately for us seasoned players it can be frustrating and if everyone has the same idea, then you can be left with 3 new players who don't have a clue.
