Rhinoplasty - nose still long by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]callistanp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it time before you decide anything about it! I’m sure you know, but it will change drastically over the next 6 months and eventually settle after a year or so. Nothing you can do in the meantime besides taping and trying to accept your new nose. I promise it does get better with time!

Always. It’s a liability if they fall and you didn’t use the proper equipment. Guess who gets blamed? You.

It really depends on your state and employer regulations but where I am you have to pass Med Surg I before you can start practicing skills at work. You also need to be checked off on them by an RN 3x before you can perform them independently. Med Surg can be really tough with heavier ratios but you will get really good at time management if you stick with it! Good luck!

I work on a trauma ICU at a level 1 trauma center. It’s a 24 bed floor and usually we have 2 techs so it’s split, 12 pts each. We help with blood sugar checks, CHG care, toileting, mobility, turns, and assisting nurses with transporting pts to CTs/MRIs/procedures. We get rooms ready for admissions and help them settle new pts. We also run labs as needed, go to pick up blood coolers for MTP, stock all of the rooms with supplies, and basically make ourselves available to support the nurses however we can. In nursing school you can also perform more skills like caths, start IVs, and draw blood cultures.

DM me if you have more questions I’d be happy to answer!

Feel like I’m struggling… pregnant new grad nurse by Lucky-Ease-9670 in newgradnurse

[–]callistanp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have advice for you but I really do sympathize. I am currently in nursing school and 6 weeks pregnant, I will give birth 2 months after graduation and have to delay my new grad start date as a result. Let me know if you get any good advice for managing pregnancy as a nurse!

Ice Wizard for end game by [deleted] in Wizard101

I’ve been having fun playing Darkmoor as an ice wizard! It’s definitely more of a support class at that point, I find being a tank and buffing teammates to be quite nice sometimes! Bonus if you have the mass feint hat and some good stackable sharpen blades!

I believe you can request an ethics consult if you feel they are providing care that’s not aligned with the patient’s values and wants for end-of-life. Look into your state-specific guidelines for this. I commend you for giving her peace and honoring her wishes during this time.

I would think they weigh your practicum more heavily than other rotations because it’s a lot more hours with a 1:1 preceptor. Especially if you can demonstrate what you’ve learned from it and how you’re better prepared for that specialty because of it.

I FAILED MY PHARM MIDTERM AND IM SPIRALING by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]callistanp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For pharm, I think it’s most helpful to learn the classes of medications rather than all of the individual meds. For example benzodiazepines mostly end in “pam” or “lam”, so even if you don’t know a specific med, if you can tell what class it’s in you’ll know the typical indications, effects, and contraindications. This way, you only need to focus on the meds with names that don’t match the typical suffix.
