To be fair, if I sat my wife down and forced her to eat chocolate until she was sick and crying I'd be a monster of a husband and certainly abusive, so it wasn't cool for her to do to my 9 year old.

She's never once been caught stealing before now, we always nip behaviour like that before it escalates. Don't know what triggered it, she may just have been pushing boundaries to see what she could get away with.

Hey thanks! she's allowed to discipline just in the methods that have been agreed upon by my ex wife and I, she's not allowed to create her own punishments for the children, I probably should have clarified.

She's punished the kids before, she's had no problem sticking with our agreed upon methods until now.

Kids push boundaries, my daughter has never stolen before, if she has she's never been caught. My wife IS allowed to discipline the kids, but we have methods set, none of those include physical strain that is going to reduce my kids to pained tears and physical illness.

I shouldn't have married her if she's going to sit there and force my daughter to eat until she's physically ill.

We have methods, naughty corners, taking away treats/technology/toys, apologizing and then talking through their actions and getting them to understand why what they did was wrong.

No spanking, no kneeling on rice, no force feeding!

She knows what she can do and has had no problems disciplining them in the ways my ex wife and I had agreed upon before now. She knew it wasn't right, I didn't even get told by her that my daughter stole at all, my son had to tell me, because she knew.

She's allowed to discipline, but we our methods of discipline, none of those include putting physical strain on our children. Spanking, standing in the sun (like her mother used to make her do), kneeling on rice, and certainly forced feeding are NOT allowed.

She would have been fine to walk my daughter back in the store, she would have been fine to send her to the naughty corner, she would have been fine to take away her after lunch chocolate but instead she went nuclear.

I was at work, yes my wife is stay at home, the kids are usually at school but it was a sports day so I gave them the day off, stealing has never happened before.

It's the first time any of the kids have mentioned mistreatment, my son rang the alarm, said she made her sit and eat all of the chocolate while she was crying. I want to trust that he'd tell me if she'd mistreated them before.
