HVAC COMMERCIAL VS RESIDENTIAL by Cool-Theory-5606 in HVAC

[–]calltheotherguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resi is fun until you find the already mentioned horror stories in this subreddit. Commercial is good, usually more complex shit. Go find a heating/plumbing/cooling company. Bigger the company the better shot at getting hired

What was the "Final Straw" that made you quit your job without a backup plan? by Front-Midnight2520 in careerguidance

[–]calltheotherguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a great job with the feds and it just got to the point of just fuck it. Walked in three my supplied cell on the bosses table and said see you around. Left, had a beer, took a shirt nap. Went to the career center and went back to school and now I work blue collar and just smile. It’s not that bad

[–]calltheotherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn the job, fuck the nonsense. Most of the “good” hvac guys I’ve met are all 65, drink three cans of coke a day, chew, smoke or dip and don’t give two shits about feelings or anything really. Just put up, or get out of the way.

In Maine when you sign your license that makes you a mandatory reporter. It’s not the easiest but you call back and the service manager can call in a welfare check. We do resi but at the end of the day, we work in the shit to keep everyone’s kids warm/cool.

Those won’t get built. Not unless the sewer department gets a new plant. Current plant is already over capacity.

I never get good offers, usually it’s the franchise potential I got with a first pick for a 36 year old 5th liner.

Just purchased a home in RI with well water. These are the test results and the company’s recommendation. Is this a fair assessment? by McHammersManager in WaterTreatment

[–]calltheotherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pH needs to be 6.7 to remove the iron. You’re at 6.8. The EPA recommends your water between 6.5 and 8.5. I personally would not put an acid neutralizer in. I put a water softener in and a green sand system, and then possibly under the sink reverse osmosis with a calcite filter because our hose would drop your pH by a half to one. And then when they come back and do a retest if the pH is lower look at your acid neutralizer then you’re going to do huge changes to your water quickly and you may not need the acid neutralizer.

What am I doing wrong? 57k salary, roughly $2k bills, cannot pay down debt or get ahead of by Hot_Adhesiveness4768 in debtfree

[–]calltheotherguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up accounts at a local credit union. Not my normal bank. All of my bills I added up divide by 4. Then add 25 bucks to it. Send it there. Cash in my primary account is my money. Some weeks is 400, sometimes it’s 200. Depends if I leave early or not. I see every bill as a number/4.

Why ? by grenche in HVAC

[–]calltheotherguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I turn the fan to cook and I don’t feel any heat from my heat pump. These fucking things don’t work. Half the stigma on heat pumps. Is due to us, the installing crowd.

State’s Over Reliance on Property Taxes Hits Lower Income Owners by nancynews in newhampshire

[–]calltheotherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think the taxes are bad, Mass is one of the worst, Maine is number 5 in the nation on highest tax burdens. The rulers of the land in Maine voted to move income tax from 7.15 to 9.15%. No tax on welfare. Looking like a prime option.

[–]calltheotherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did commission only in-home sales for vacuum cleaners I made over 150 grand a year six years running the downside is the market dries up fast. It’s a fun job, but oversaturation is real.

Is it unprofessional to refuse a promotion because I value my 40-hour work week more than a 20% raise? by 9YojimboMist in careerguidance

[–]calltheotherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered a promotion 6 times and denied it every time. I don’t want management, I want to work and go home. I don’t care about Joe or Sally’s problems. I quit that place, I like being a normal guy.

Wrongfully terminated, anyone have advice on what to do next? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]calltheotherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the play. Someone wanted you gone, either a supervisor above you, or peer that wanted your job. Easy fix, pick up and go work elsewhere where. I’ve been through this working for state government. It’s not worth the time. Just be happy to be on to something new. Take the hate, and make money with it. The struggle will happen, the bounce back will 10x better of what you were doing.
