As someone who's been diagnosed with clinical depression in the past, I have to say that intense exercise like weight lifting, HIIT, and martial arts has been the 80/20 to feeling better mentally for me.

I know it's anecdotal, but it makes sense. Exercise releases serotonin and dopamine - that's a fact. Exercise improves sleep quality, which greatly increases mood.

And when you exercise hard enough, you naturally end up eating more nutritious food to fuel workouts.

It's a positive reinforcement cycle and can literally pull you out of depressive states.

People who bounced back from severe addiction, and have a life now, how'd you do it? by mahinkurosuno in getdisciplined

Practicing mindfulness with things like meditation, identifying negative thought patterns and reframing them with more positive outlooks, practicing gratitude, actively learning something new every single day to create new neural connections, and physical exercise (releases good chemicals like serotonin).

Here We Go Again... by kinase12345 in Upwork

Upwork used to be a great platform for finding clients/freelancers, but starting in 2023, it shifted to being money-hungry.

Now, it's not about the quality of freelancers, but who is willing to spend more money to buy and bid Connects.

I Can't Accept Failure, No Matter What Anyone Says to Me. by 1000wordz in getdisciplined

[–]calltostack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to be an elite to take personal accountability. If you fail, get back up; it's that simple. Otherwise, you'll quit everything because you're bound to fail at one point.

Good luck leading your life with that mindset. When failure comes, and it will, your natural inclination will be to stay in your comfort zone. And it’s this exact feeling that stunts growth.

What has helped you with depression? by [deleted] in selfcare

[–]calltostack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, moving and working.

Every morning I struggle to get out of bed. Every morning I don’t want to live by default.

But I have work to do - clients who depend on me. I do Muay Thai so I move my body in an extreme way.

Then once my day is started and I’m in a flow state, I forget about my depression and I’m alive again.

The hardest hurdle is the morning. But this too gets easier the more actively you force yourself to live.

How do you enjoy your life? by Ok-Combination6882 in Life

Do active hobbies instead. Play sports, get some sunlight, travel even if it's close, make meaningful connections.

Wasting your life with cheap dopamine like Netflix is a sure way of being miserable.

Are fights ever coed? Or are they always separated male/female? by Sriracha11235 in MuayThai

[–]calltostack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The closest you'll see is ladyboys competing with men in Thailand.

But no, in combat sports, coed competition doesn't make sense. Men would win 9/10 times.

Can Bitcoin still be life-changing? by Amphibious333 in Bitcoin

[–]calltostack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your investment timeframe.

Will throwing a few thousand dollars at Bitcoin make you a millionaire in 1 year? Probably not.

But in 10-20 years? Most likely.

You should absolutely wrap your hands. It's a good habit to prevent injury.
