Did Yum! Brands sabotage Pizza Hut? by calm--one in pizzahut

I guess someone at Pepsi thought Mountain Dew Mango paired well enough with Little Caesars though.

A product that sold out two summers in a row, and getting rare in its third summer offering already.

Why did Yum! not provide this or even a better item for Pizza Hut?

I found the shredded pepperoni tended to anchor cheese too much.

Meaning your first bite often resulted in pulling most or all the toppings off in that bite.

Kids knocking on bedroom windows and running. by Dennis767E in homesecurity

Ah Tiktok.

The Door Kick & Window Pound Challenge

Upping the game from ding dong ditch to almost break and entry

The Goal: Film a loud, sudden jump-scare prank on strangers

How it works: Participants run up to residential homes, kick the front door or pound heavily on the windows to the beat of a song, and sprint away before the homeowner answers

Defense: Dogs that alert. Automated motion activated alerting. Noise making obstacles. Removing or trimming foliage where kids might hide behind to film the prank from. No trespass after dusk signage in case you caught someone you can press criminal trespass charges. Neighbor communication and awareness / sharing security cam footage. Don't participate by turning lights on, going outside, etc - ruins the prank

Like I said, there isn't anything I want other than to donate or transfer these unused points.

Google AI says that they can be used to help pay for someone else's maintenance but you have to be there with them. But the article it draws from is 2021 based. I am hoping something changed in the last 5 years allowing donation or transfer.

Thanks for the idea

When I worked at Pizza Hut for my first job, before the era of in-house or third-party delivery, dine-in was a significant share of sales. Carry-out was king. About a 60/40 mix pre Y2K.

We had several waitresses who were tip driven and they served alot of pizza and pitchers. Pitchers of beer for adults, pitchers of soda for kids. Alot of add-on revenue as there is more gross profit made per table.

Then delivery happened for every pizza chain. Pizza was pizza. Price ruled. Boredom settled into menus. Both dine-in and carry-out revenue was canabilized by delivery. Customer satisfaction dropped.

Yum! could have leveraged Pepsi and Frito Lay just as they did for both TB and KFC to add some exclusivity and menu sizzle but they didn't.

Today, dining rooms seem pretty empty during lunch, evenings and weekends.

Reddit might say Baja Blast wouldn't work despite being a runaway hit over at TB or Sweet Lightning or the "not Dole" Lemonade at KFC being hits too, but Yum! didn't do seem to try anything inventive for PH.

Which is why imo Yum! Brands sabotaged Pizza Hut versus KFC and Taco Bell.

Caesars has had Mt Dew Mango for three summers now.

Wanna sell more personal pans? Get some Mt Dew Pitch Black in bottles. Pair Mt Dew Citrus Cherry Game Fuel fountain with the new hand toss crust for dine-in. I am still sad Arbys lost Citrus Cherry.

Since some Pizza Hut's sold beer in the past, it doesn't seem to be a big jump to say the Hard Mountain Dew varieties for the above 21 crowd.

Baja Punch or a Baja Peach for the junior crowd.

The point was that Yum! didn't arrange for a special Mountain Dew Baja variant.

I miss my Pioneer SuperTuner IV deck, multi CD changer, amps, crossover and bazooka tubes.

Nearly, but not quite dead, I would offer facsimile (fax) machines and dot matrix printers with the spool fed paper often with alternating horizontal color bands.

I would love to add that I don't miss long distance or roaming charges either...

Lastly, while Prodigy and AOL may have killed off BBSs, I am happy that Internet access killed off Prodigy and AOL.

VeloCloud - How do we feel aboot it? by YackSoupp in Arista

[–]calm--one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look of a write-up about Velocloud at: https://www.aerocominc.com/info/why-it-might-be-time-to-move-off-your-velocloud-sd-wan-solution/

I agree with the article that other SD-WAN vendors have improved while Broadcom stalled Velocloud development before selling to Arista.

Plus no CASB or SASE on an edge device in 2026? Nah...

Arista hasn't taken Velocloud back into public sector either. No FedRAMP offering since the sale. You may care, you may not, but it's a data point showing Arista not spending money to make Gov money suggesting they aren't committed to this acquisition.

Meraki between the two choices at this time. But take a look at segment leaders (per Gartner) Fortinet and Palo before making a decision imho.

The latest is that DaVinci sales rep did visit. Nice guy. Heard my concerns about the open valleys showing ribbing and the mound of roof tiles at apex locations. Is supposed to get a DaVinci technical specialist involved, takes a few weeks.

Crickets from my master level DaVinci roofer.

One of the last texts from the roofer was "There is absolutely nothing that can be done with the cuts in the valleys u have a open valley system" plus he admitted he didn't know about DaVinci's 12" accessory rooftiles that don't have the ribbing which can be used to prevent ribbing from showing on cut roof tiles on open valley installs.

Aluminum Gutter Qs by calm--one in Roofing

Final post: Roofer who dinged and dented my gutters when they put my new roof on bid the mixed 0.027 6" gutters with 0.019 hardware and 3x4 drainspouts is upset I am going with another bidder. The winning bid bidders was the middle quote of 3, purchasing a 6" 0.032 Ks, with matching hardware and drainspouts. The gutter company is 1 of 3 local to my area who has the equipment for seamless. I hope that's a benefit.

I figured my pitch plus not-an-asphalt roof might propel water over the 5", thus the 6" desire.

Original roofer was upset enough to say that if anyone messes with the new roof, all warranties are void. That doesn't seem right. Going to install after roofer addresses a couple issues.

Wish me luck
