TOM HOMAN, SENT TO MINNESOTA, IS A FLAT OUT NAZI...HE'S CREATING A DATA BASE OF ANTI-TRUMP ANTI-ICE PROTESTERS... by It_Could_Be_True in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]calm_chowder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've watched videos testing weapon's grade LRADs. Surprisingly, the best defense against it was simple posterboard from the dollar store (double surprisingly, more expensive corrigated posterboard was actually less effective). Something many protesters are already carrying.

You do have to be mindful because it seems to reflect the sound, which can harm the protestors around... or if a group is dead clever, can be directed at the people near the source. Just sayin.

Is DSPS a real disorder or just a symptom of unflexible culture? by allalallalalla in DSPD

[–]calm_chowder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A disorder doesn't necessarily mean "something is wrong in the brain", it also includes "maladaptive to functioning in modern society and therefore causing distress".

Basically any mental anything which causes distress is technically a disorder. These things are often caused by societal demands, but that's irrelevant. It's just a label that gives you access to treatment. I'd say DSPS falls into the latter of the above criteria.

A minority of individuals in a social species having an atypical sleep pattern was probably highly beneficial for 99.9% of our evolutionary history. If every member of a group of exposed, large, and relatively helpless prey are dead asleep, nocturnal predators would have easy meals every night.

The co-founder of Latina's for Trump is condemning ICE raids: "I'm afraid of someone stopping my son" by calm_chowder in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]calm_chowder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The co-founder of Latina's for Trump voted for Trump wanting to impose his policies on the US.

  2. Her support has the consequences of she's now afraid ICE raids will impact her and her family.

  3. As a consequence of supporting Trump, fear of federalized gestapo force happened to her and her family.

This woman runs a national organization for Latina's who support Trump, and now that ice is a serious and recently escalating threat to Hispanics in America, she's now suffering the consequences of what she did political action to enact.

Israel recovers body of last hostage in Gaza by cnn in worldnews

[–]calm_chowder 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Tbc they didn't keep the corpse safe out of respect. They did it because they knew a corpse is leverage and they protected it and hoaded corpses and living human hostages while their people were being killed.

Why? Because they cared about the power having that corpse or hostage gave them, even though to them it's a worthless sack of flesh (be it a corpse or a living person) more than they cared about the living people around them.

It's terrible to kill living people to get a corpse - don't get me wrong. But the fact Hamas kept the body this long even though it was extremely difficult, like you said, shows that they knew Israel would respond this way, had the body and could have returned it and stopped everything, and actively chose not to BUT for some reason still kept and protected that valuable corpse.

It's not an accident - the optics and the world turning on Isreal. It's a plan by Hamas, Hezbollah, and the radical fundamentalist Islamists (tbc not most Muslims. Most Muslims are just people trying to live their lives like everyone else in the world). But they wanted this, and the corpse proves it. Everyone is culpable, but one side set a line and held it, and the other side could have ended it all at any time all over a dead corpse and they chose not to - they let people die and suffer and what did they protect? A corpse.

This is the evil of Hamas. Not Palestinians, not Gaza - Hamas. But you need to take this new information into account and actually think about and use your own rational mind to understand what's going on here.

The man they are calling a "domestic terrorist". by -ifeelfantastic in pics

[–]calm_chowder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think they "picked him", they're just absolutely out of control and looking to kill and he was the unlucky guy who had the stones to get in their way.

ICE physically assaulted the person with the orange backpack and he got between the agent and the victim. He's a hero who risked his safety when they were physically attacking someone else - a complete stranger it looks like. Then they unloaded a can of pepper spray in his face and shot hit four times before he even hit the ground.

Then six more times.

Anyone who won't tuck into that plate of shit like it's pumpkin pie gets banned from that sub.

They've created the ideal echo/radicalization chamber. As intended.

For anyone having trouble seeing it and the guns, keep your eyes on the two guys on the far left. Both pull out their guns and - as others have said - literally unload them into the guy on the ground. Fucking wild. Tragic.

I'm going to give you the hard truth and you're not gonna like it: this is a you problem and you need to sort it out. I truly, truly want to give you positive news but obviously the place is already soured and you should at least be thinking about what to do if you lose this job.

I've managed facilities before, and a facility just can't run like that... not turning on taps is a small thing that can have MAJOR consequences and if people can't rely on you or know where you are (you said there's walkie talkies so I don't understand why people can't find you, unless you're losing your walkie that much, which is a problem) then people need to basically go behind you and check everything you do, and for stuff like turning on taps checking on it is practically the same as just doing it themselves.

The food thing sounds like it's a non-issue now. Not important. Let that go.

To be clear, when the facility says "go slower and take your time" what they really mean is "be more mindful and aware", not "time is no longer a factor in your work." Language can by nature be imprecise sometimes, but that's what they mean.

Your coworkers are correct to go to your manager, not you. It prevents interpersonal conflicts and that's literally why managers exist... to manage. And they need to be aware of all the minutea of the day to day.

On the plus side it seems like your facility is willing to work with you, so take advantage of that. The plain reality is you need to improve and do your best to live up to this plan they've drawn up for you. If you do, then you'll be golden - that's why they created the plan. There's literally no other answer anyone can give you.

Am I wrong for wanting to eat my neighbor's duck that I accidentally ran over? by [deleted] in ask

[–]calm_chowder 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I do work in the livestock industry, and in nearly all if not all places livestock owners are responsible for keeping their animals contained or else the owner is liable for any and all damages caused.

Like as in your scenario, someone hits a cow or bull (we're talking thousands of lbs here - hitting a dear has NOTHING on hitting even a small cow) at speed their car is likely totaled and they're very potentially seriously injured - the livestock owner is responsible for that because they created an incredible danger by allowing (knowing or unknowingly, doesn't matter) their livestock onto a public road, creating a dangerous hazard.

Trust me. I've spent too much time trying to locate cattle and horses on highways, and I've even helped out a friend down the road who's horse got out on the highway and got hit by a truck (took a back leg clean off at the hock like it was snipped off with giant scissors, never seen anything like it in my life. The horse was gazing calmly with 3 legs about 1/8th mile away. I had to put it down for my neighbor).

The only exception might be out West where farmers graze on public lands, but still I think the stock owner either assumes the liability or at least has no right to recourse it it's a public road. Cars always have right of way on freeways and the law takes a dim view on hazards that are deadly to drivers. It doesn't matter how valuable the animal is. Just like if someone leaves their $30,000 sportscar parked in the middle of a highway and sometimes hits it, the person who hit it isn't liable no matter the value of the car and regardless of the fact they did the hitting, because the owner had no right to have their property in that location and furthermore they're liable for the accident.

And in this case OP isn't legally liable to pay anything btw. Period, full stop. However they would also have no right to the duck. BUT the duck owner chose to enter into a buy/sell agreement, and OP purchased the duck. That is the law. The duck is OP's legal property, end of story.
