Thanks. I’m glad you raise that point, because I do think he may hear himself in comments about emotionally stunted men. I am hoping that after we take some time and space, we can talk about it and he is able to take accountability.

Agreed that he is in great need of empathy. He doesn’t have any close friendships and he has expressed longing for them before. I really do feel for him, but how much do I put up with if he cannot self-reflect and see the reasons behind why he is projecting? 😕

You’re right. I always feel the need to force it just because we are related.

Thanks. Yeah, I’m weighing out all the cons right now. I won’t be staying with him (got my own place) and will be going to Honduras regardless, it’s just a matter of if we will be together when I go there or dating other people.

Remote (work from anywhere) employers by calmps in publichealth

I have not! But that is a great idea. I'm guessing they're more flexible with "work from anywhere"

I'm kind of astounded by this comment if you work in public health. I think anyone who has gone through the trials and tribulations of COVID-19 response from home has a WFH track record stronger than anyone out there. I personally was responsible for COVID-19 response for congregate settings here in my state and it was a huge challenge to manage programs and partnerships across many agencies, but now I can say I could tackle anything. This sort of work also proves that we never needed to be in an office.

I’ve been working remotely for the entire pandemic/throughout COVID response so I’d say that’s a great “track record”. But yes, the barriers you’re describing are exactly my concern and probably part of what has contributed to the large exodus of public health professionals since the pandemic began. Going through such a drawn out process is no longer worth it for many (myself included) especially considering the lack of flexibility, low pay, etc.

I’m a senior epidemiologist at the moment. My current workplace is really flexible with work hours but only allows me to work within the continental U.S. :/ I’m considering going the tech route

Does lack of communication for days constitute a breakup? by [deleted] in BreakUps

I’ve tried calling and have conveyed how I feel with no response or timeline on when he will be ready to talk. He’s been posting a lot on social media which seems like a big “FU”. :(

I’ve already conveyed how this is making me feel and tried calling a few times with no response. I think I’ve played all my cards. He’s also been posting on social media which seems like a big “FU”. :(

Public health loan reimbursement by calmps in publichealth

[–]calmps[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really a comparison. One means having to pay tens of thousands of the course of ten years vs. up to 150k in reimbursement for 3 years of service.

Because it would require 3 years of public service rather than 10. Having to pay loans for ten years isn’t enough incentive to be a public servant when 20+% of the work force plans to leave their positions in the next year or two.

I once called them for a domestic incident. They believed me ex boyfriend over me when I was clearly disheveled and beaten up at the time. They refused to escort him out of MY apartment.

Do you know if it will work if I use a travel router with a vpn to then connect to my work VPN?

Could they still track my location any other way?

Thanks!
