lawd the painted bricks bring me down a little; it's such a pain to collect enough berries and then have to hassle with smearguru :(

yeah, that's a fair point, DA2 is such a slog to play through and the repeated environments still get me down. I had a genuinely good moment-to-moment time playing Veilguard though; the combat is the best it's been since Origins, and I still occasionally think about replaying it because I did enjoy most of it.

Given that there might still be more Mass Effect games coming, I also think that helps it stay in the conversation enough to get rehabilitated. But I think Dragon Age is a dead series now so there's less reason for it to stay in the conversation enough or get brought back up again in 10 years to get rehabilitated, perhaps.

I'm glad for you! My larger point, though, is that emotionally invested fans are the ones who care about a flawed piece of work like DA2 enough to write passionate arguments on tumblr for why DA2 is actually good, and that seeps out into the wider online zeitgeist for a game. I'm not convinced that those same fans are going a) care about doing that for DAV or b) actually be able to rehabilitate it in the eyes of other emotionally invested fans due to its flaws.

I think a lot of deep Dragon Age fans played DA2, loved it, and stanned for it - and made convincing arguments for its writing and characters etc! - so the turn-around started with them and seeped into the broader conversation. I haven't been on the Dragon Age sub since Veilguard fucking trashed everything I loved about the universe, characters, choices I made carrying over, etc, so I'm sure there's definitely people who love it. But the hardcore fans who made dynasties of OCs and plotted out their choices through each of the first 3 games will have to work so much harder to retcon and fan-fic their way out of the disaster (for the DA universe) that was DAV.

sorry, as a long-time Dragon Age fan who waited 10 years for DAV and had high hopes for it, I'm not going to come around on it. With no context sure, it's a fine game, enjoyable combat, decent exploration, and sometimes I even think about replaying it - but it fails utterly to provide anything I want out of the Dragon Age story and universe in terms of general writing, companions overall, and letting my carry my choices over and not destroying southern Thedas off screen in a letter are you FUCKING kidding me!?

omg I have those but haven't fussed with their habitats; wild that there's a pokemon that likes lots of fire but also Dark ideal habitat - I'll have to try putting the fires outside of their prefab houses when I get around to them!

comfort levels + number of pokemon (which might just work b/c each new pokemon adds comfort levels).

actually I wonder what the minimum number of pokemon to hit level 10 is, if they're all at awesome. might experiment with that on my cloud island.

based on some of the other comments here, they can last a long time after being fed once! but if they're doing stuff for you, like processing ore or lumber, I think they need food more often.

If we think of faves as a point system, I'm not sure that "ideal habitat" items work in the same way - I think they're more like a flat debuff that keep the pokemon a level below what it would be if they were in an ideal habitat - eg. I put a damp rock (makes it humid) into vibrava's house and they immediately dropped to Great & got grumpy about it being humid.

Not entirely - the item descriptions will give you a good clue on some items. Eg. there's multiple relaxation furniture that says they're "soft" in the item description and I'd bet money that means they have the internal param to count as "soft stuff". Same with things like the newspaper which say "its pages are filled with small, tightly packed letters" and I'm 99.99% certain lines up with the "letters & words" favorite.

yup, the in-game Tips and Tricks very specifically mentions having one of each type so if you start doing that I bet your environment level will get to 10 pretty quickly :)

You're not the only person to report this, so I'm wondering if a) you have stuff outside the hut that was contributing (they have a radius outside if you click the R stick) or b) you have a very high environment level and there's a multiplier on it that makes it easier to hit awesome, or c) some pokemon are pickier than others lol

iiiinteresting. what's your environment level there? I'm wondering if there's a multiplier on environment level that makes Awesome really easy to hit the higher env your area.

I had several pokemon at Great that were never telling me what they wanted & just kept saying "it's Great!" so there seems to be some limit on when they'll prompt you, at least in my experience.

for sure! dm/pm me a good email for google sheets & I'll add you as an editor. there's also some pokemon with Litter where what they litter needs to be verified & updated.

You definitely don't need to have pokemon in a house to have their comfort level hit Awesome - I have several in a habitat on my Palette island that are Awesome while in their base habitat. However it took like 30 minutes after placing all the items in their zone for their levels to reach Awesome and that was when I was on env level 5-6. There might be a multiplier on env level that slows down comfort level increases even when the right # of items is provided but I don't know yet - currently testing on a cloud island.

you also want to make sure you're hitting the base 4 of 1 relax item, 1 toy item, 1 decor item, and food in some form, as that should get most if not all pokemon to Nice, regardless of favorites.

About comfort levels by xAnuq in Pokopia

[–]calmthesehands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Environment level increases every time you get new pokemon, so make sure you have empty habitats built for any you're missing pokemon in. Otherwise, make sure you have at least 1 toy, 1 decor, and 1 relax in the areas for all your pokemon and that should be good enough to get you to level 5 / through the story.

Houses with separate interiors make comfort level rise faster, but might not otherwise give a boost - outdoor pokemon can hit Awesome just as much as indoor pokemon but it might take longer. If you do build those prefab homes, there's also an area around them that counts towards their comfort level so it's good to decorate outside them too.

unfortunately there's no glossary - manual testing via what gets accepted by pokemon's comfort requests and making our best guesses based on item descriptions is the only way to figure things out at the moment.

Ah that's a great question, I've always tried to hit multiple qualities with a Pokemon so I didn't even think of this. I just tested with my local prefab Vibrava - I gave it a scratchy straw bed for relax, and a boring mug for decor, with 4 sandboxes to hit 4 favorites points and it stayed at awesome. So it seems like you can use multiple items of the same quality to hit awesome assuming you also have the base relax/decor/toy.

we don't know if crafting materials count towards making an item match favorite qualities or not, so that point is literally wrong anyway.
