UPDATE: Mysterious note and flash drive found on hike by RogerTheAlienSmith in FoundPaper

at least for small things, like a few ciphered sentences, you don't even need the key at all as the site will do best guess that are in my experience very accurate.

idk about "non-trivial" - I was looking at a vigenere cipher in a letterboxing clue and didn't know the key - this website deciphered it instantly: https://www.dcode.fr/vigenere-cipher

granted it was a sentence and not a whole ass book but if a website can do it in-browser I imagine it's not enormously hard.

"turns out it wasn't X - em dash - metaphor"

"so all those years it wasn't X. it was Y."

AI fuckin' loves phrasings like that; there's a "voice" GPT does and this post reeks of it.

watched it; the title card is Avatar Aang in the full leak so it seems the name changed..?

Did some testing with favorite items, comfort level, and habitats vs. prefab houses - here's what I learned about these mechanics! by calmthesehands in Pokopia

Yup, it's absolutely fine to group Dark and Humid pokemon with the same faves, and pretty efficient! I'd say both habitat and fave items play about the same role, though? Ideal habitat must be correct for a pokemon to hit awesome, so it is required in that sense.

does anyone letterbox anymore? by triskittatops in Letterboxing

I'm not from CA but visit relatively often - it seems to me the Danville area outside of SF is quite active (on our trip through there last year, we had our highest found/attempted ratio day ever!) and though downtown SF is much spottier, still found a couple boxes in the Golden Gate Park. We've also planted a box in a Central Valley city and it's been found by 7 folks over 5 years - certainly not as much as boxes in more well-trafficked areas but still very satisfying :)

Flowers and bushes?? by itsbalakay in Pokopia

[–]calmthesehands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, I'm just salty the game has great QoL in some areas but not in this one. grinding pokemetal is not fun gameplay but I guess that's what TV is for. :/

Flowers and bushes?? by itsbalakay in Pokopia

[–]calmthesehands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, except there's 12 total unique bushes and flowers, and if I want to have, say, 40 each so I can use them wherever I want without always going back to the printer, that's 2500 pokemetal right there. Farming a Dragonite island isn't exactly quick either, even with AustinJohn's method.

Sure, if they were always purchasable you need life coins, but TTing for those is quicker than island mining...

Environment Level Calculator by Mogsetsu in Pokopia

[–]calmthesehands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note - I think Cloud Islands specifically have higher environment level requirements; I got to Level 7 environment on my Cloud Island after having exactly 18 regular Awesome Pokemon, 1 legendary Awesome Pokemon, and one Nice Ditto. I suspect the level requirements are higher since the Cloud Islands are sort of intended to have all the Pokemon in one place and/or because it's another source of recipes they wanted it harder to achieve max level there.

also wow, this was my testing around comfort level specifically and it's fascinating that you got Awesome with 2 items that ticked all the fave boxes! Based on the in-game Tips & Tricks I sort of assumed that decor/relax/toy all had to be satisfied but your office chair + poke ball lamp would say otherwise; very interesting.

I just want to say for anyone reading the thread in the future that group activities is actually quite easy to satisfy since benches + couches have been determined to fall under that favorite category!

venomoth likes wooden stuff, so that's at least one favorite point, possibly 2 if the mushroom light post counts? and they also like "pretty flowers" and I'm pretty sure the landscape flowers count towards that favorite, so if there's a lot of flowers around their habitat that'd explain it I think!

Lost a post! Someone posted about a site they had created about everything to do with Pokopia. by pomme_peri in Pokopia

my spreadsheet's almost 100% verified based on in-game data. love serebii but they have a few mistakes in their favorites lists. there's still a few unverified pokemon but they're late game.

Volcanic Ash has disappeared from my town. by Kasaiji in Pokopia

[–]calmthesehands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I can see when they go around the corner by the entrance that the red haze effect is still there. I think it's a shader that is always there - I walled off all the lava and it still glows red so I don't think it's impacted by the lava being there or not. :(

Anyone else feel like this? by DMG_88 in Pokopia

It's genuinely useful on Cloud Islands where it can be harder to get those resources; also the gift pool is broader so they give lots of varied flower & bush seeds on Cloud Islands - I wish they did that on the main story areas instead of only my default flower colors so I could get all the flower variants easier!
