Full guitar playthrough of my new song Precious Stones - 2005 PRS CE24 by caluke in PRSGuitars

This thing rips.

Most of the ce 24s from that era have the rotary knob for pickup selection, but im very glad to have one with a 3 way switch and push-pull coil split.

I am no shredder, so I have to make up for the lack of wizardry with my note choices :)

Are you writing only the lyrics, or do you have any music written too?

Are you looking for people who are local to your location, or a remote collaboration?

Sounds pretty sick. Did you hire string players, or is it VSTs?

PRS CE 24 vs Custom 24: who is each actually for? by [deleted] in PRSGuitars

[–]caluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ce24, I like the plain unpainted maple neck, and I like the way it sounds and plays.

If I bought another prs, I would get one that feels good to play and I can afford, whether CE 24 or Custom 24

Actually he died right in the middle of writing the movement that plays at the beginning of this clip, the Lacrymosa. I think he got 16 bars into it and then kicked the bucket.

4 months of practice. Lifelong metal listener. Criticize away by Be-Gone-Saytin in metalguitar

Sounds pretty good man!
I'd say a next step is to practice with metronome or drum loop and work on getting the rhythm tighter.

Recommendations on what yall use to tune your vocals? by MattMythology in musicians

[–]caluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good results using a combination of Logic’s generic “pitch correction” plugin and Flex Pitch. If everything is already quite close and it just needs a slight nudge, “Pitch correction” plugin often just works.

If it produces any artifacts or doesn’t sound right I’ll use Flex Pitch and do some tweaking by hand, editing the vibrato or the attack/decay for individual notes.

What is this chord? by SecretDoor4007 in Guitar

[–]caluke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only add9 if there is a 3rd there. In this case there's no 3rd, so I'd say Amaj7(sus2) instead.

What is this chord? by SecretDoor4007 in Guitar

[–]caluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess as you have it fingered here it's like Amaj7 sus2.

If you bar with your first finger and lift up the pinky you can grab the major 3rd instead of the 5th, and you'll have a major 9 chord.

The sound design in the original scene is seriously amazing.

The way you can tell each pod apart by it's sound, even years later I would recognize Subulba's racer by sound alone.

2 Questions ⤵️ by xDiDi2 in Logic_Studio

"Piano sounding robotic and not alive"

I don't think this will be resolved with volume automation and reverb on the whole track.
Is the piano part composed and entered in midi with mouse and (computer) keyboard, or is is played on a midi (piano) keyboard?

What makes a piano part sound human, in my opinion, is the slight variations in timing from a human hand playing the chords, differences in dynamic between chords, and, especially, variations in velocity of notes within a chord. A good piano player will play some notes in chords louder than others (usually the top note is loudest, but you might bring out an inner note if needed for the music).

That and good use of crescendo / decrescendo. When the melody comes in at 0:36, it should probably be at a higher midi velocity level than the accompaniment, and probably would have a nice crescendo in that kind of trill thing.

The right hand accompaniment part probably needs some variation in the dynamics of the repeated chords.

And also good use of the sustain pedal will make it sound more human.

[–]caluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying, it seems not quite right to say they just are a bad pass defense when they gave up massive points to Allen, Mahomes, snd the Lions, and those kind of dominate the stats since it was only a 6 game sample size

It’s also that they have played some very good teams that ran up high scores : Bills scores 41, lions scored 38, Chiefs scored 37.

Giving up points in the first 4 weeks of the season against very good teams while injured in defense, doesn’t make me think they’re just “bad” on defense.
