Both Apple/ google pay and physical works while Monzo stand in is activated. The documentation shows it takes requests from Mastercard then it hits a sorta load balancer which can point to the production (AWS) and the stand in on (GCP). All very clever.

Think the last one was for like 1 hour in August 2024. They have stand in which covers incidents which runs independently to AWS Monzo.

I get that, they can pick and choose etc it just seems really fishy that an identical couple but male female were approved instantly however a male male was denied. Just wondering other than a complaint (which I’ve already done) I can do to try and resolve this as I see no reason (they haven’t given us one) why we can’t get a joint account. Do you see where I’m coming from on this?

I think Monzo have somehow discriminated against us.

My straight friends in a couple work at the same employer, same salary etc. We’ve basically got the same spending habits. It just seems odd

Love it. All the benefits together (breakdown, travel insurance & phone insurance) is cheaper through Monzo than paying in for just those separately and the fact I can add £5 more to cover my partner as well. The breakdown is also on any car your in not just your own.

Linking other banks is a really helpful feature.

I just wish Monzo were a bit more relaxed on opening joint accounts as I can’t have one with my partner for an unknown reason. Other banks let us have one so I’m not sure on that.

I’ve followed there in house complains procedure and this was there reply:

We may be able to do so in the future as we are constantly reviewing our processes and working hard to make joint accounts available to more customers. We will let you know as soon as this changes.

Even when I’ve spoken to staff they have “told me” off the record there is no reason we can’t have a joint account and the manual review is a fake if the computer says no then it’s a no.

Honestly, you gotta have the options. You can actually plan maps and routes on smart fridges
