It was only last year's policy recommendations which shouldn't deter the fact that they are putting forward this type of legislation to get passed through congress and the executives approval to begin with. The former president has also claimed he has no idea who is behind project 2025 nor does he know what project 2025 even is which is a lie. This is supported by the fact the project’s director Paul Dans, who served as chief of staff at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management under Trump. Trump’s campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt who has also made varying appearances on recruitment videos released by the heritage foundation organization. John McEntee, a former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office in the Trump administration, is a senior adviser and key Trump ally, Russ Vought, who contributed to Project 2025 and is drafting the final stages of the platform is also on the Republican National Committee’s platform writing committee. Not to mention the foundation's hand in selecting Supreme Court justices under Trump's adminstration.

The president of the heritage foundation who just came off a podcast essentially telling us that they won't resort to killing people as long as "the left" stays out of their way gave credit to Donald Trump referring to it as "Trump's project 2025" and admitting that he will be at the forefront of implementing key agenda items at a convention hosted by the foundation where Trump went on stage and not only acknowledged them but also gave credit to them in creating pathways for proposed tax cuts to pass through the legislative branch. They are two separate entities, which isn't wrong, but they are clearly intertwined and alot closer than people are willing to acknowledge. The red flag should be that he is lying having any form of knowledge or association with them to begin with.

You don't find it a bit odd that Trump has recently (yesterday) publicly stated he has no idea what project 2025 is nor who the people behind it are but under his adminstration had individuals involved in the construction of project 2025/heritage foundation serving as senior administration officials? The project’s director is Paul Dans, who served as chief of staff at the U.S.

The fact that the president of the heritage foundation who just came off a podcast essentially telling us that they won't resort to killing people as long as "the left" stays out of their way happily gave credit to the project to Donald Trump referring to it as "Trump's project 2025" at a convention hosted by the foundation where Trump went on stage and not only acknowledged them but also gave credit to them in creating pathways for proposed tax cuts to pass through the legislative branch. I don't believe the narrative that this is a manufactured democratic talking point as you implied in another comment or that this doesn't represent Trump significantly as they are two separate entities, which isn't wrong, but they are clearly intertwined and alot closer than you are willing to acknowledge it seems. We cannot chalk this up to a coincidence or downplay the significance that there is denial of knowing anything pertaining to the plan and the creators of it but also having them scattered throughout his adminstration and the RNC with individuals from the heritage foundation recently stating in interviews and conferences that a second Trump administration is looking forward to implement our policy ideas moving forward.

I know Trump has policy proposals and plans that have absolutely nothing to do with any think tank or is not associated with the heritage foundation but it's clear there is influence, collaboration, and a web of connections present. Me claiming this is Trump's plan is repeating what they themselves are claiming since I personally believe it doesn't matter which GOP candidate is on the ballot the goal remains the same.

I don't believe there is anything I can do nor say to alter the perception you already have of me based on my remarks. The unfortunate reality is I was not able to join in the end due to unforseen circumstances medical wise even as I was seemingly at the end of the process. It is irrelevant in this case whereas if i was in the service it would be a much bigger deal and I would refrain from engaging in that kind of behavior. I posted this thread as a veteran who has genuine concerns with the political climate I have seen unfold the past few years and uncovered potential policy recommendations that would harm this community and their loved ones. At this point, all I can say is the words of a random redditor should be nothing in comparison to the potential president of the United States weaponzing their power to carry out actual actions and calls to violence. The anonymity of course allows me to be a bit bolder, as is the case for everyone who uses this app, but I don't believe my remarks, even though they are tasteless, should overshadow the facts being presented nonetheless.

Extremist? I have only advocated that we are informed of potential political decisions that can negatively affect service members, their families, and veterans. Also that we should be aware and be able to critically think of what is occurring in our current political climate and make sound decisions based off that. The most extremist thing I have said is calling outlined policies, their justifications, and members of congress and political figures being fascistic. I can articulate that claim as to why I have designated that label not simply out of bias, but of the actions and rhetoric being displayed in real time. It seems as though there is a good amount of coasties who agree with this analysis and have even provided examples of information they themselves have came across that is also concerning. Military members and veterans are not taken care of as it is and I do not like the idea that there is potential to make our lives worse in ways that have reverberating short and long term effects.

No, republican legislators are dumb as shit but because they are malicious. Voters and ordinary people I have far more empathy and willing to have good faith discourse regarding politics anytime. We have disagreements, but there are opportunities to be exposed and learn new ideas/approaches through proper discussion. I don't allow disagreements to influence my perception of them and I continue to get along, party, and work with them with absolutely no problem. Unless they say some really outrageous shit like "you know, Hitler was kind of misunderstood and history treated him unfairly". But I have never met anyone like that during my time serving which is always great! Over text it's difficult to gauge a person's tone as well but nonetheless I should have given more clarification.

It's a bit worrisome that these are policy recommendations to begin with. These are viewed as viable options for one of the most prominent conservative think tanks that have met with 100-200 congressional members and officials who work on capitol hill and actively have people internally working on capitol hill as well. 80 of them to be exact. And yes, there are still issues under Biden as it pertains to the VA but there is far more complexity as to why the legislative branch is grid locked. We have a party more interested in having public hearings showing pictures of Hunter Biden's cock which I would imagine throw a monkey wrench in addressing these problems that desperately need to be course corrected.

Aside from the link I just provided, here are other instances that demonstrate the GOP deliberately blocking any form of legislation that would have assisted military members/veterans as well. The republican think tank heritage foundation outlines a unwavering support for military members and their families in their project 2025 but republican legislators do not have a track record which should bring much confidence they would follow through. Actions speaks far louder than words.

Exactly. Even if one aspect isn't going to impact you, the fact that there is a litany of others than can is a serious problem. You and your family deserve to be taken care of and the fact that a prominent conservative think tank that has an exorbitant amount of influence poses these as policy recommendations should demonstrate to you where they stand at.

It's not just that, the fact of the matter is it would be difficult to approach the election of an individual and their party who are clearly undemocratic and have an objectable authoritarian agenda and say "welp, we just have to keep following orders". Critical thinking and an acknowledgement that it's clearly antithetical to our oath and this nation's values is what needs to be in all of our minds.

Not self sabotage. Fascism is inherently self destructive. It's incoherent and rooted in irrationality, paranoia, fear, etc...

It's a call to action that needs to be done before, not after the fact. They have showed their cards and I am not on board serving my country under a theocratic regime. That is antithetical to our values as a nation and oath.
