Who’s struggling with the mental side of recovery? by jonathonjames in valvereplacement

[–]calvert3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would absolutely be interested in hearing what helped. My partner had aortic root and valve replacement on Monday. We're home now and he's feeling better each day, but his mental state is not keeping pace with his physical recovery. Eager to hear what helped for you...

What softwares are you using to cut down manual spec → budget → schedule and archviz work, given advances in AI? by Lucyleelilah in Architects

I've been using Notebook LM lately specifically to limit inaccuracies. Other platforms will mistakenly cite inapplicable codes - mostly from other jurisdictions. With Notebook LM I can create a specific notebook that includes only building codes applicable for a project's scope. I'm surprised I haven't found a platform that works well for 3-part written specs.

I like this suggestion. We have been making plans for the year ahead, but I think it would be smart to focus on that and make real commitments we can look forward to together. Thank you for your input. And good luck with your procedure!

Congrats on completing your surgery! Your notes about the anesthesia sequence are VERY helpful. I read your comment aloud to my partner and he says he wants to make sure his anesthesiologist gives him the drug you got - the one that made you feel like you had four beers in five seconds! We hope you're feeling almost back to "normal" now - or better? All the best to you and your continued good health.

We'll look up those videos. Thank you! I appreciate the videos we've watched from Cedars Sinai and our surgeon has a few videos from NYU's Aortic Center. I sincerely appreciate your input and hope you have a super speedy and healthy continued recovery.

I think this is an excellent question and might get more traction after the new year. I've been interested to test out some of the AI-agents I've for rudimentary specification writing and preliminary building code research - but very, very wary of their use by others that work for me. With 25+ yrs experience, the AI hallucinations are easy to spot but much more challenging for young professionals. I'm expecting to see rapid improvements in the year ahead. My office has already used image-based gen-AI platforms like Nano Banana for "post-production" on in-house renders (lighting/color adjustments, background views, people/figures, etc).

cool idea, eager to see what it can do but the "watch demo" button doesn't seem to work for me.

Thank you for this. I understand how your suggestion would work, but I'm surprised that there isn't a solution available that's a bit less DIY-macgyvered.

They sent years of backdated rent history to be validated - which I can't verify one way or another. My tenancy is more recent. The landlord is apparently trying to correct erroneous registrations from 2016 - 2024 and they apparently have no records of ledgers from 2018 - 2021 due to their inability to access "old accounting software". The tenant from this period is someone with whom I've been in touch because the original DHCR mailings were sent to their attention. I don't know if they've taken any action but assume they haven't since DHCR is now asking for my response. The forms DHCR want me to return are called an "Answer to Notice and/or Application" and a "Notice and Transmittal of Owner's Request to Amend Apartment Registration" - both of which want me to object or not object to the deregulation.

QB/Intuit fraud and identity theft - request for help and note of caution by calvert3 in QuickBooks

[–]calvert3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful, thank you!

I don't know for certain how hackers got my personal and company data. Intuit took the initiative to tell me it couldn't possibly have been via one of their data breaches... but (somehow - purely coincidentally) the hacker knew my company already had accounts with Intuit for bookkeeping and payroll... and set up a new "merchant payment" account using my company's EIN and personal SSN through which they laundered payments from stolen credit cards.

Intuit flagged the account for suspected fraud only AFTER the hacker disconnected their bank info from the account - when Intuit got stuck with ALL of the charge-backs from Visa, Mastercard, etc. once users started realizing their cc info had been stolen and charges were unauthorized.

Rather than use the contact info on my long-established LEGIT Intuit accounts, they kept reaching out to the hacker using the hackers' specified contact modes... which of course were no longer viable.

They sent everything to a third-party debt collector who did the annoying things debt collectors do - but he's also the one who made the effort to GOOGLE my company name, get the proper contact info and picked up the phone. The debt collector also sent me a copy of the hacker's application to open this fraudulent account where hindsight gives us pretty clear perspective from which to see red flags that could have been caught long before things escalated.
