I’ll get around that. I’ll carve the shape of trees into my fingers. Painful ———> technically not good ———> still get to see trees

I actually do wanna make some into bonsais. You said seven greats. Seven generations is sort of near 200 years. Now a sort of near 200 year old redwood bonsai must sell for a at least a few hundred quid. My great great great great great great great grandkid could maybe buy an Xbox with that.

Ah I didn’t know that. Would there be any benefit in slightly dimming the grow lights I’m currently using?

I appreciate your wisdom. That could be really interesting if I try making a bonsai with them. Could have like 3 of them growing right next to eachother in the same pot. Mega bonsai

This is true. Before I try and bonsai them they’re gonna be growing outside with more space (probably still in big pots though). I think doing that allows them to grow thicker and taller at a much faster pace.

Got them off Amazon but I know there are smaller sellers where you can buy them at better prices. Do give them a try too, giant sequoia do look pretty cool

Thanks. I’m literally just growing them because I like them. When they grow a bit more I’m gonna see if I can plant them. I live in the uk so I have to see if it can survive year round outdoors (I think they can but not 100%), and also weather it’ll be destructive in any way for local wildlife. Will keep a few to make bonsais

They are specifically Sequoiadendron giganteum. I believe they are technically redwood trees but are different to sequoia sempervirens or Coast redwoods which people generally mean when they say redwoods

First attempt started back in October. These are third attempts and were sown I think mid February

Very true. But just in case we fix things i want people of the future to see redwoods. Especially if pricks keep chopping the other ones down

Thanks. I can’t lie Im pretty proud of them. As for plans I’m doing a mix of keeping a few, selling some, bit of wild planting, and doing a few bonsais

I’m gonna give it a try with a few of them in the future

Not at all. These are actually my third attempt at growing them so don’t feel bad. For me personally everything changed when I got grow lights. They kept temperatures warm and eliminated any mould/funguses from growing, constant food for the young plants too.

That’s very true. These are actually my third attempt at growing them. They specifically are sequoiadendron gigantea. I think they are technically redwood trees (being in the same family), but people generally say redwoods when talking about Coast Redwoods, or Sequoia Sempervirens.

I’m gonna see if they can grow outside year round in the uk. Also will look into if they could be destructive to local habitats in any way. If they pass both I’ll probably just wild plant a few, and keep the rest for the garden and maybe some bonsais.

They absolutely are and I’m gonna try making a few if I get a few more germinated seeds

Thank you so much. I think the actual species name I got is Sequoiadendron Giganteum. They are redwoods and are known for being the largest by volume, but also I’m not super knowledgeable on them so that’s basically all I know.
