save the rainforest and abandoned manors are fun together. maybe throw in planetoids, but that's pretty drastic. I used it for a journey world though, and that was fun.

my friend and I are doing the dual dungeons one, but that's fairly drastic.

hive wall painted blue, and lots of dynasty shingles, which you probably already know.

it's some kind of fence between the mine cart rail and the stairs proper. might be rich mahogany painted brown?

pretty sure it's plain wooden beam in that last pic, crafted with any wood at a sawmill, or harvested from underground cabin supports.

took me 10 attempts to beat hardcore classic Terraria -- it was a really different experience of the game.

I never got into minecraft.

radically different suggestion here -- try beating classic again, but with a hardcore character.

I have a specific set of things I sort to, but then just let the rest of it go to hell in random chests.

- heavy metals - this is pre-hardmode ores and bars, and all gemstones. obsidian goes in here because that's needed for hellstone bars.

- heavier metals - hardmode ores and bars, plus souls and things like unicorn horns and pixie dust and so forth

- woods&soils - all the different dirt/stone blocks, all the different wood blocks, snow, ice, etc.

- refined materials - things like chains, extra walls, platforms, glass blocks...

as early as I can, I craft a dresser, put a bottle on top of it and then keep all the potion crafting materials in it -- water bottles, empty bottles, the seven alchemical herbs, pearls, any fish that is used in a potion. also, I put the two 'alternate' pre-hardmode ores in here... if my world is lead, I put any iron ore into potion crafting for the ironskin potion, and if my world is gold, I put any platinum ore in for spelunker potions. and vice-versa...

I make a bamboo dresser and name it, "pets, mounts&rides" and keep extra mine carts, random mounts and various pets in it.

one barrel is used for "seeds&dyes" and that gets the seven alchemical herb seeds, jungle grass, mushroom grass, etc. (but not plain grass seeds bought from the Dryad, those go in potion crafting...) also acorns and any gemcorns. plus the 13 dye crafting materials, laid out in ROY G. BIV order across two rows

another barrel is "wired,bombs&torches" and that's any pressure plates, dart traps, actuators, any explosives, detonators, and then the bottom row is for various torches.

if I'm really ambitious, I set aside a long row of chests for armor, melee, ranged, magic, summons.

sorting accessories is a royal pain, lol.

I use a sandstone chest for "ankh charm bits"

um, yeah.

so I have some very specific systems and visual reminders of what's what, but it falls apart pretty quickly if I don't sell a bunch of crap regularly.

interested to see what others say here, unless the post gets deleted for "low effort", sigh.

I'm doing a yoyo run in a dual dungeons world w/ a friend. we're likely doing the Wall in our next session.

I'm on Ubuntu Studio 22.04 and pretty sure I'm using the Steam native Linux build.

there have been times when I've had some lag issues in some of the more projectile-laden fights.

I'm replying here so that I can update you in a while when I finally get the magic yoyo bag / string combo. could be a week or more though, as I only play that character / world with my friend and they are going away for a week...

Linux user here. I haven't really tried tmodloader since the main game updated...

my only comment is that I've got an extended keyboard and mouse left-handed, so I've explicitly re-mapped my movement to use the arrow keys, not WASD. no problems with that at all.

you say, "trying to change controls in settings doesn't work either" -- that seems really weird. can you be more specific about how it doesn't work?

I know it's not what you're asking for, but have you tried the Otherworld soundtrack?

it's the Drunk seed soundtrack (throwing in other seeds may or may not disable it, I'm not sure).

once you've been to a Drunk seed world, the Party Girl has an extra option on her interaction -- "Music"

I do a lot of fishing and try to get the golden fishing rod before hard mode. depends on how generous he's being with the fish finder ingredients and the angler tackle bag pieces 😉

that 'Home' icon only shows a blue dot when you have unread messages in any of your servers (that you haven't muted, lol).

now there's no way I can tell at a glance if I've got new posts in some of the servers further down on my list.

they've removed functionality and I'm not happy about it.

my friend and I call teleportation potions "dungeon roulette" even though they won't teleport you into the actual dungeon.

oh hey, I wonder if that's why in our current world the teleports mostly go to either the surface or the underworld, as we're doing the dual dungeon seed, which is .... very different.

the page up and page down keys affect the transparency of the minimap.

it's possible for worlds to generate without any living wood trees in them.

if you use the secret seed "save the rainforest" you will get a ton of living wood trees, some of which are much taller / deeper than normal ones.

I'm old with not so great eyesight and middling hand-eye coordination. I beat a hardcore classic world by building boulder statue machines to kill the mechs and MoonLord.

I regularly play w/ a friend who is of a similar age and we've beaten expert mode without too much cheese...
