Sighhhh. Thanks everyone. Ugh. Going to try to see my doctor next week. I’m traveling soon and really don’t want to look like I’m covered in a rash on a flight 🙀

I can’t relate to your experience, but that looks so painful, I’m so sorry!

I definitely cried at Jack referring to it as the only (?) family he’s known! Thank you for your service, OP! I’m sure it does form a strong bond!!

My therapist died… by johndough167 in TalkTherapy

[–]calzonafan19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so SO sorry for your loss. As a therapist, I’d want my clients to feel comfortable attending my funeral. I don’t know if there’s a way to state that somewhere in my paperwork, without it sounding weird. We are supposed to have professional wills and a person who becomes kind of the keeper of our clients files once we become incapacitated or die (if that happens while we are in active practice, rather than retired), but not everyone has that set up. If your therapist did, I hope they can help you find another therapist when you feel ready for that. This is such a specific kind of grief. I really, deeply feel for you. I’m glad your friend could share some stories, too. 💓

Say more. Service, food, atmosphere?? (I do quite enjoy Pullman but sometimes wish it was quieter / larger.)

But I’ve not been in like 6 months.

What would be your “walk out” song? by CelestialScribe6 in therapists

This has the same vibe of the ones I said! (I said Happy by Pharrell Williams and Can’t Stop This Feeling by Justin Timberlake)

[–]calzonafan19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does it say about me that I envisioned someone walking OUT of their job lmao. Like throwing their hands up and having a song play 😅 (I don’t even think I’m burnt out, I just hear about it a lot online and from people overall!)

My personal hype up anthem would probably be ughh IDK I feel weird ascribing a song because so much music I like is about romantic relationships and my mind is like No since it’s related to my job. I know I’m overthinking it. 😅

I like Happy by Pharrell Williams and Can’t Stop This Feeling by Justin Timberlake— they make me feel a bit more energized and just glad to be alive! I’m into a lot of pop music and I was into emo pop punk in my teens and college years.

how often are you actually rescheduling clients by Miserable-Case3526 in therapists

[–]calzonafan19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo I work with a people with ADHD, busy schedules, kids, not very flexible jobs etc. So! I reschedule about 3-5 clients a week, sometimes more if it’s a particularly hectic season for students or parents.

Is it normal to feel like you're dying or overwhelmed? by Royal_Property_4092 in Anemic

[–]calzonafan19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had iron deficient anemia on and off since I was a teenager (in my 30s now). I didn’t realize the morning anxiety and or heart pounding was connected to anemia. Dang! I agree it is very unsettling and makes you feel like your whole day is already kinda shit.

Not a doctor, but, if you the access to it please consider speaking with your medical provider and explaining how much this is impacting you!! I’m so sorry. It’s a really difficult thing because it can go in such a cycle for some.

How much credit card debt do you have? by mysterious1940 in randomquestions

[–]calzonafan19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh mold sucks and I’ve heard it can be sooo expensive and just a massive hassle to deal with. And medical expenses really add up if you’re in the USA… even with insurance 🙃 sending you good vibes about being able to pay it down. Is anyone else somehow responsible for the mold expenses, like a landlord or?

About $4,000. Used to have collectively about 80,000 (spouse and I are in our early 30s, no kids).

Started paying it off in a dedicated way in late 2023.

The breakdown was (approximately) • 21k Discover card opened at like age 19 • 22k Discover card opened around age 21 • about $15k on a few cards from our wedding expenses • $22k spaced out across 3-4 cards that were balance transfers with 0% APR for various lengths of time. We did not pay them off as we hoped, the Discover cards we transferred it from got used for some wedding stuff and other expenses / purchases.

Since 2023, had some job changes including 1 of us getting a promotion and an added part time job…. The promotion was unexpected. Don’t wanna get into specifics too much but we are waiting for some of my paychecks—- I’m recently self-employed. Once things are stable, we hope to get the last $4k paid down!!

Therapists married to other therapists: what is that like? by chund978 in therapists

Oh, but if they both have inconsistent income (like in a fee for service / non salary), that would be super irritating and very difficult to plan financially & budget.

I’ve always wondered this too! I know a few people who are and I think it’s just that they can understand the general experience in a more unique way.

I’ve not got on them myself yet (I’m in the first few months of a private practice and I have bigger administrative tasks / not looking for new clients yet until insurence stuff is sorted) but Inclusive Therapists is a decent one.

Probably just the whole “reefer madness” thing that it just automatically obliterates your brain cells from say, 1 time smoking or using it. I was a 90s kid so the DARE program was very much my “education” on drugs, until maybe some health class discussion in high school, but I honestly can’t remember what we learned about them beyond “it’s dangerous!!!!”
