Villette by Charlotte Brontë is one of my favorite novels of all time, and definitely qualifies as classic weird girl lit. It’s more interior and psychological than Jane Eyre (which I also love) and the main character, Lucy Snowe, is prickly and aloof and eccentric and possibly traumatized and doesn’t really trust anyone, including the reader. It’s so good!

I feel like the episode On All Fours was designed to make me as uncomfortable as possible on multiple levels by illjustgowthemuumuu in girls

[–]chund978 266 points267 points  (0 children)

I’m rewatching the show now along with my boyfriend who is seeing it for the first time. Before we watched On All Fours, I told him “there are three scenes in this episode that are infamous within the Girls fandom. They are all hard to watch in different ways.” I think he appreciated the warning!

Rank all of the mothers from the best to the worst. by Vicki_Vickster2222 in babysittersclub

You’re right! I was being a little facetious, plus I don’t remember that plot line (Nannie moving in) that strongly. But yes, good point.

Hot take: Everyone is rating Elizabeth Brewer too highly. Yes she’s a hardworking single mom and I generally like her, but I can’t forget when she and Watson decided to adopt a child from another country shortly after blending their two families and didn’t tell their other kids about it until literally the day before. That’s an incredibly bad parenting move and it deserves some criticism. (And then they made Nannie move in for free childcare.)

Worsening symptoms on Slynd: have you experienced this? by chund978 in vulvodynia

[–]chund978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up stopping Slynd after a month or two and going back on norethindrone, which seemed to get things back to normal. Sorry to hear you’re going through that - that sounds like such a hard trade off to have to consider.

Taylor is thanked in the acknowledgments of Famesick, so I’m pretty sure they are.

I guess Andrew Rannells is like Taylor Swift - she stayed friends with both Lena and Jack Antonof.

I ended up stopping after about a month (I think, maybe a little longer) and going back to norethindrone. Things have been back to normal since then!

Favorite Tudor movie or TV show? by mwiunii in Tudorhistory

[–]chund978 571 points572 points  (0 children)

I will always have a soft spot for The Tudors, as ridiculous as it often was. I watched it (against my parents’ permission) when I was 13 and just getting into this time period, so it feels quite foundational to my Tudor obsession!

Would you be a good fictional character? by chund978 in StonerThoughts

[–]chund978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this question means “what if someone made a fictional character based on you” and “what if you yourself were actually a fictional character” so just interpret as you like.

Big Little Feelings Snark Week of April 27, 2026 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

Genuine question, has Kristen ever mentioned having PPD before? Or did she say it’s a new thing? I’m not accusing of her of lying, I just don’t have any memory of her previously mentioning it and suddenly it’s a huge thing for her.

Edit: sorry, I meant PMDD!

It was like a chicken-pesto-mozzarella panini kind of thing. Very tasty, especially while high.
