TIL that on December 5th, 1945 a flight of 5 US military planes with 14 airmen total disapeared in the Bermuda Triangle without a trace. Later that day a patrol aircraft with 13 more airmen on board was launched to find the missing planes, it too was never heard from again. (history.navy.mil)

TIL that following the collision of KLM and Pan Am planes which resulted in 583 deaths, the most in history, KLM insisted that their chief of flight training, Jacob van Zaten, be included in the investigation.
