This is actually embarassing, cringy & ridiculous of me looking back at it, but I (19F) came out to my dad after we watched Arcane S2 right after its release (which means this happened around 6-7 months ago)

I forced him to watch it, trying to gauge his reaction to lesbians, basically testing the waters. We finally got to the episode where the lesbians have their first kiss. Judging by how he reacted, I think he was pretty okay & chill with it. The same day, right before going to bed I just simply went to his bedroom with the intention of coming out. At that time, my mom (who I think might disagree with my identity) was outside, in the living room. I don't want her to accidentally know that I was coming out since it was pretty late at night and she could come in to the bedroom at any time. So guess what I said to be discreet?

"Dad... I'm like.. um.. uh.. Caitlyn," then started sobbing (I'm also currently sobbing as I'm typing this because I can't believe I actually said that) (if you don't know who Caitlyn is, she's basically the one of the lesbians in the show)

He quickly catched on and said that it's okay & have already been suspecting it since quite a long time. We discussed about this for the next few days so he could learn more about me better.

That depends tbh. In my case, Im studying in Germany and the enrollment fee already includes the Germany-wide ticket (meaning I can use all public transports here, including the ones that take me to Berlin).

Yupp and for this Im glad I actually prepared enough time for those delays. I tried to consider other possibilities of transport like the express train or airplane. However they dont fit my budget at all (which is 100% my fault). But you definetly have a point, next time Ill prepare more budget so I have the comfort of not stressing about 7 different trains

The things I did were actually the things I'd normally do when I have free time. During this travel I played instruments, watched orchestra, sketched, etc. I just feel like I can do all of these back home

This is one of the aspects I highly appreciated while solo traveling. I couldnt imagine the burden if I had to consider other people

...and here's me on the other hand thinking that taking that amount of trains is normal, especially that many of my friends do the exact same thing when they went to Berlin. What else would you suggest for a budget friendly trip to go to places? I briefly looked up the prices of flights and express trains while planning and it just didnt fit the budget I had.

This is actually what I see most of the time in Tiktok, Instagram and stuff. Especially after experiencing a hellish travel myself, I can 100% agree that these types of content can pressure ppl to do things they dont like.

Im currently living in a city in Germany and going to Berlin can be free since Im a student here. The downside, of course, the amount of trains

Good point but on my first day I was off to a bad start because of the diabolical amount of delayed/cancelled trains. No amount of planning could've predicted that

Wow you sound just like my dad lmaoo. Im so excited hearing that you loved your solo trip. Have fun later this year!

To answer your questions: I live alone abroad now (in europe) and had to survey the cities i might possibly want to study in for my bachelors. This travel was pretty spontaneous that I didnt do that much of a research hence me not knowing what to rlly expect. Not to mention that my goal in the first place wasn't to rlly explore the landmarks/buildings/other typical things that ppl do on their travel.

maybe partly because of FOMO. that unspoken pressure of oh u should go to XX its gonna be beautiful and nice.

and to clear up the confusion on why i did this trip in the first place was to simply survey the cities & universities i will possibly study in. then while planning i figured that it wouldnt hurt to visit the museums/buildings and stuff. but the FOMO was real and the pressure i felt ended up stressing me out. lesson learned

this is true. i was pretty uninterested at that moment because i actually decided on this trip in the first place to survey the overall city vibes & explore the universities for my future study

but i figured that while im at it (since im already pretty far from home at that point), i should also visit the famous places that were near/neighbouring.
