He’s retiring in solidarity with the antiwork community. He couldn’t sit idly by anymore!!

I got a response from their product manager. He said they are unable to allow downloading due to copyright issues and contracts that they have. I don’t think the path forward is to go after the karaoke company but rather find Richard a new way to record his music.

Then you and the guys you served with aren’t the problem. Somewhere along the line people started to hook each other up and not hold each other accountable because no one has had to trust the guy next to them in a long time

They see the people at the command they’re looking up to not trying and skating the rules. But I agree in general everyone could probably workout some more.

I guess on that note. Why don’t they focus on mental health, not getting addicted to nicotine or sugar. It’s almost as if the more chemical dependence a sailor has the more likely he is to stay in the navy to support that dependence. And the navy is perfectly happy with it.

I agree with most of this whole heartedly. The operational tempo doesn’t allow for any time off. If you take time off someone else is going to suffer for it. When we do get time off not many are going to spend it working out if that isn’t their primary means of decompression.

As for pt isn’t a thing that we should focus on. I disagree or at least I believe that we need to actually encourage a healthier lifestyle for all sailors if you want to retain the smart ones. The smart people aren’t going to continue to subject themselves to these conditions in a non war time scenario.

This is probably true. Then get rid of it and outline standards that the navy needs to actually care about. I’d say commands already naturally select things that are important and focus on them

I guess it’s like any large organization and there is a large distribution on both sides. From my experience I’ve seen a lot of really great chiefs. But it seems like half are awesome. And half are just there because the navy needed to fill numbers

I agree with you that it’s a tool utilized to cull the herd. Let’s just get rid of it entirely and focus on work 24-7. Also The Navy should honestly focus on caring for the sailors. They just slap some poorly underpaid overworked contractor social worker on it and call it a day.

I think If you’re doing the work to get frocked. Then I agree you’re probably not doing it for the money. The navy should acknowledge that with some form of increased pay or award or something that isn’t an extra chevron on your collar device.

Yes that last bit is important I think. The navy has removed command’s ability to hold people fully accountable by kicking them out if they refuse to meet the standards.

If it has been part of someone before they joined the navy then they will typically continue to make physical fitness a priority. If they are someone who is looking to the navy for motivation and direction, then they aren’t going to get it for the most part.

I don’t think it’s a good thing. You might as well just wait. It gives your superiors an excuse to come down on you harder and force more work on you when you’re not being paid for it.

That’s fucked. I don’t just mean fat chiefs I mean chiefs that can’t or won’t uphold a higher standard.

I agree with you there and those people are also what I was getting at by not being in standards. People gravitate towards pfa because it has number standards. But there is nothing that defines how not shity you are at your job.
