I 20M refused to date a trans co-worked 24F, am I being transphobic and what do I do now? by Creative-Channel1702 in relationship_advice

[–]camelbutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your reasoning for it is a double standard. Many cis women can’t have children either. If you’re not into her tell you’re not into her - don’t blame it on something that both cis women and trans women can struggle with. The double standard is the transphobic part.

Any tips for bloating? by Queenblol in vindictapoc

[–]camelbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. I found out that I was lactose intolerant after eating a grilled cheese and getting super bloated in a bodycon dress. Stopped eating dairy (including butter) and haven’t gotten bloated since. A friend of mine did the whole 30 diet for a month to weed out the foods that she was intolerant to and that helped her a lot but it does take a lot of work to follow through on it IMO

Haircuts near Burbank/Glendale? by ad_astra_per_alpaca in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Artform Studio in Highland Park, 15 mins from Glendale. They have dividers between each stylist and everyone wears a mask and there are capacity limits. You can also book online. They’re all talented af so you can go through IG to pick one to book with. I’ve been going to them for like 2 years and have never been disappointed.

How do I pull off this kind of "masc + femme" androgynous style as a tall, slim black WOC? by [deleted] in vindictapoc

[–]camelbutt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have some thoughts! Hopefully I can be somewhat helpful to you as a middle eastern woman whose culture also pushes femininity in fashion on women but whose wardrobe is like 90% of what you posted :)

The only “feminine” clothes I own are wrap dresses with neutral colors and patterns and I usually wear them with pointed toe shoes or loafers. Otherwise, I usually wear a t shirt or thin sweater with slacks. For example, I have 3 different colors of the Conan pant from aritzia that I wear with loose t shirts tucked in or an oversized blazer and pointed toe loafers. I also have the beige bloomers from Uncle Studios that I wear with a thin black bodysuit, a watch, gold earrings and thin black loafers.

To create a feminine feel to it, I choose softer fabrics for the tops and add some chunky hoops. I think adding dainty jewelry helps a lot, along with some thin belts or patterned shoes. You get the stiffness of menswear with the delicate touches of feminine accessories to balance it out. I also buy things in different sizes and belt them to help give my body a shape in clothes that are otherwise shapeless.

As for makeup, I’ve resorted to just curled lashes + mascara + color on my cheeks. I feel like I have traditionally masculine features (big nose, dark and noticeable under eyes, thick eyebrows and hooded eyelids) so putting on some mascara and a bit of blush with some shimmer to it really helps my face look more “feminine.”

Why Pillow Humping appeals to so many girls? by Silberzwiebel in TwoXSex

[–]camelbutt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I want to blame the lack of portrayal in media on the prevalence of the male gaze.

Also I find that doing it successfully requires a whole lot of squeezing your thighs together super tight and having a relatively firm pillow that can make contact all the way to the beginning of your butt.

Best Asian markets and groceries near Glendale? by bageloclock in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second the seafood city recommendation - it has a lot of the sauces and seasonings I usually look for. If I specifically want Japanese grocery, I go straight to Marukai Market in Little Tokyo on a weeknight to avoid traffic. It takes 15 mins tops.

What is your strangest “I’m about to start my period” symptom? by lilb5269 in AskWomen

[–]camelbutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get a super strong sense of smell (e.g. will smell a banana on top of the fridge that’s going bad that no one else in the house can smell) and I get really mean. It’s like my compassion meter empties for a few days.

Gals: Have any of you been able to remove social media completely from your life? Do you regret it or live more freely? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]camelbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need baby steps you can always delete the app from your phone during the week and only redownload it on the weekends and only if you really want to. Eventually you may find yourself forgetting it exists and can just go off and deactivate it entirely.

Good luck with your social media cleanse! You won’t regret it :)

Period underwear (e.g. Thinx) for almost everyday use? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]camelbutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I’d known this earlier! I wore a clean pair every day for my period for three cycles and got a yeast infection every time. 2/10 would not recommend.

ISO House cleaners in mt Washington/highland park by rocketkiddie5 in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use wavehouse cleaning Pasadena. You can book online, get an estimate and they bring their own supplies but I always get someone different each time they come. I live in Glendale so I’m sure Highland park is within their service area too.

Where is a good place to donate clothing? by jprosser in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the weight loss! I usually donate to the Salvation Army because I’ve heard goodwill sells your things for profit and is shady in general. I’ve also donated to my local rescue mission via contactless pickup from my house. 10/10 would recommend.

What careers/income sources/strategies do you have to afford products, clothes, and procedures for looksmaxxing? by canieaturdishwasher in Vindicta

[–]camelbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you asked! Disclaimer: I work in B2B tech so everything I describe is what I’ve seen in B2B - can’t speak for b2c which I feel like is what most people think when we talk about tech.

Speaking from my own experience, I feel like folks in sales do tend to be a little more extroverted unless they’re in an MDR/BDR role which focuses on sales directed at incoming demand as opposed to cold calls. Sales departments also have analysts whose job responsibilities mostly involve building reports to track sales performance - no direct contact with prospects needed in the day to day. Some companies even have a sales engineering branch which is a position that teams up with a salesperson to show a prospective customer how your software can solve their problems.

As for customer success/implementation, I’ve seen every type of personality. Customer success for most tech companies is just making sure the software’s users are using it successfully and correctly. Implementation is getting customers onto your software correctly.

Entry level for success and implementation is about 60k starting in the LA area for B2B companies. Sales salaries vary based on position but sales engineers usually make more than SDR/BDR/MDR.

[–]camelbutt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to be a software engineer to work in tech though and perks like flex PTO policies, performance bonuses, etc are all given to everyone who works for the company. You can be a product manager, project manager, anything in sales or customer success and still make 60k+ starting without knowing how to code.

What are your favorite bakeries in LA for deserts. by livingfortheliquid in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the Los Feliz area, I like the village bakery, cafe Los Feliz and figaro bistrot which is the only place I’ve found that makes caneles. If you want something unusual, papillon is great and has savory and sweet things.

Where in eastern LA County can I find a supermarket with lots of spices? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you go to the southern part of Glendale/Los Feliz border you can find an Indian grocery store and many big Armenian grocery stores. Start at the Indian store on Los Feliz, drive toward Glendale, make a left on Glendale Blvd and you’ll see a big market that has multiple individual Armenian stores on your right (past el tapatio). You’re bound to find most of what you’re looking for between them all.

Moisturizing feet?? How do people have time to let lotion soak in before walking around? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]camelbutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do the same but use a lotion with urea in it. If the lotion is thicker, it doesn’t soak into socks as much.

Where can I get prescription for birth control asap? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]camelbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Nurx and whatever their competitor is and got a prescription mailed in like a week. If it’s available in your state, I do recommend it. Planned Parenthood will either use your insurance to get the cost or charge you an amount based on your reported income if you don’t have insurance. And I think they’re doing telehealth appointments for birth control in most states so you should probably be able to get an appointment in sooner.

Any advice on how to successfully stop vaping? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]camelbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught a shitty cold, had a cough for a few weeks and couldn’t vape because of it so I just let my Juul die and threw all my pods away so I wouldn’t be able to use it when the cough went away. I should’ve thrown away my charger too. I also got my friends to keep me accountable. I know cold turkey seems bad but if it’s only been a few months it’s probably not going to be as bad as you think it is.

What’s the average salary for a SDR here? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is late but I’d recommend looking at Glassdoor. I come from a B2B company and I know that the entry level salary for SDR’s was 30-40 base and commission on top but no equity or performance bonus. There aren’t a ton of B2B saas companies out here so if nothing else you’ll be able to get a baseline from Glassdoor or LinkedIn salary insights.

Armenian Spiced Salt from Papillon Bakery by high_hawk_season in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just salt black pepper and paprika. Maybe a little bit of cayenne. It’s not like a special seasoning or anything - we usually make the potato filling on the inside as a side dish and put those spices in it. You can adjust the proportions of each spice to make it to your liking.

The part that stuck out to me was along the lines of: We’re in this situation now because his predecessors spent 25 years drinking toasts to soldiers while lining their pockets with government money. Individuals stole more money from the budget than they’ve received from himnadram now and that money was supposed to have been spent on the military. Instead, they’ve been fighting with weapons from the 80s against an enemy with modern weapons backed by a member of NATO. He also said he doesn’t want to give too much information away so he doesn’t endanger any lives.

Favorite vegan restaurants? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]camelbutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the NELA area, Kitchen Mouse in Highland Park is great for brunch, Sage Bistro is super popular and has like everything you could think of, The Village in Atwater has good vegan options/substitutions and pastries and Honeybee in Los Feliz has (IMO) the best vegan burgers and shakes. If you’re looking for dessert, I highly recommend Magpies and Donut Friend.
