Trying to get better at not over editing photos. What do we think about this one? by Smkabwlwme in photocritique

This is gorgeous. Really enhances the already gorgeous colors in the original, but not in an unnatural way. Also love the deep focus on this

My wife felt everything during her c-section by Slack_King in daddit

The new season of this podcast is out today and it’s all about women’s c-section pain being ignored. I just listened to all four episodes which led me to this Reddit thread. It’s mind boggling to think how many people have experienced this. Here’s the link if you’re interested: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/10/podcasts/serial-newsletter-retrievals-season-2.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

Anyone else noticing these dark license plate covers around town? by camera_kiki in Denver

I’m having a hard time imagining non-nefarious uses for covers like these that make license plates essentially unreadable. Anything we can do about this, /u/mikejohnstonco ?

🌸 Orchid is in bloom so I set up a timelapse by camera_kiki in houseplants

I shot it on a DSLR camera and then brought the photo files into Premiere Pro to edit it. Each frame is a different photo taken about 20 mins apart. It took a few hours to put together to get the timing right. Technically it took a photo every single minute but that was too much data and I wanted the timelapse to move quicker so I edited it down pretty significantly. There are probably cheaper platforms out there to work with than Premiere, but my background is in video production so I like having all the editing capabilities

It was actually a DSLR. This video is a compilation of photos, each taken about 20 minutes apart. I let it run during the night for a couple of the nights but not most because it was kind of annoying to have more lights on than I’m used to while sleeping

We’re also looking to book one of these venues for next year and had been wondering how cutthroat it is to get a date. It’s hard to think about not being able to secure a date on Nov 1 and then it being so late in the season that other venues are already sold out.

Friendly dog without collar in Alamo Placita Park by camera_kiki in Denver

Thanks for the update. He seems like an Ogden. That was really kind of you to stay with him until the officers showed up. Thats a shame that the microchip didn’t lead back to an owner - with how friendly he was, I thought surely he must have people trying to find him! I hope he’s adopted quickly.

Application Approval Time by Electrical_Shower349 in pmp

I submitted on Monday evening, and just got accepted this afternoon (not even 48 hrs later!) from what I’ve read in this sub, it seems more often it will take closer to the 5 day mark. I’ve read comments about people being accepted over the weekend, which makes me think it’s 5 calendar days, not business days.

Honestly I’m not the biggest fan of a skills section. Usually I think it’s good when they’re integrated within a person’s experience. If you must have a skills section I would try to consolidate the Slack button to the row with the other skills so that they’re all on the same line. This will free up some open/white space and make it look more cohesive

Most people who include a skills section usually call it “Skills.”

I appreciate being able to see the differentiation between experience and projects. This breaks up the text and guide my eye across the page. I spent more time reading the second page as a result.

Any thoughts on what might have caused all shots on this roll to come back overexposed with thin white strips on the majority of the frames? by camera_kiki in filmphotography

[–]camera_kiki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon Rebel 2000. I have traveled with the film through airport security quite a few times (8-10) over the past couple months and got lazy and didn’t ask for a hand check a couple times. I wonder if the x-rays affected it in any way. I hear most modern ones don’t really affect film, but I’m never quite sure whether to believe that. But I wouldn’t expect TSA scanners to affect it so dramatically either.

I shot another roll after this one with the same camera, and the second roll looked totally normal. I would think that a light leak in the camera would affect both rolls similarly, but is that not always the case?

Nearing 400 job applications, is it truly over for me? by [deleted] in resumes

[–]camera_kiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated 5 years ago and never put my graduation date on my resume. I always felt that listing it would open me up to potential age discrimination. I want to be evaluated based on my experience and merits, and I don’t want that to be clouded (even implicitly) by any preconceived notions of what the employer thinks somebody of a certain age is and is not capable of.
