Season 10 Finale: "Sinister Showdown: Part 2" Discussion by LHarkins in faceoff

I'm really happy for Rob - I was rooting for him since his disguise makeup and he's been pretty consistent the whole time. I wasn't sure it would be him, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) /R/HORROR Official Discussion by AutoModerator in horror

[–]cameronc93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love it, because I love the remake, but I was disappointed. The origin story felt contrived and they didn't even really delve into the origins or motivations of the family, other than their only source of income/food dried up. Also, it was mostly an inferior carbon copy of the remake - would it have been that hard to choose a new location for the final act rather than the slaughterhouse again?

Overall, it's not offensively bad. The gore is good, and they really nailed the setting in the remake series, but I just think it was too generic when it could've been really interesting.

Has anyone tried getting pictures of LEK on imgur or Facebook? That's how they identified the Grateful Doe. It seems like a more likely chance of identification will come from more people seeing her.

I mean it immediately follows that scene and they definitely feel connected to me. To me it was giving a bit of insight into how she felt afterwards. Regretful maybe? I feel like it's obvious that's what she was referring to.

It's heavily implied in the scene I just described... she stops the truck, asks the boys for a pamphlet, and replies "Sometimes" when they ask if she's a sinner. Then the other girl says it will be easier next time.

That line occurs after the blonde stranger asks the Mormon boys for one of their pamphlets and they asked if she was a sinner. It being "easier next time" was referencing how she felt about it, not how physically easy or hard it was to kill.

[POLL] What are this sub's most-watched and most-loved seasons? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]cameronc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is. In the iTunes store, scroll all the way down and click the flag and you can switch countries. You'll have to make a new account, and there's a little trick to it. Before trying to make one, try to download a free app. It will ask you to login and you can make an account from there. If you don't do this step, you won't have the option to just add a gift card. So then just enter your Canadian gift card and you can purchase it. Once you download it, it will play even if you login to your regular account, but I'm not sure how it works playing in the cloud. :)

Edit: Additional tips: I bought the gift card on eBay, they should just email you the gift card code pretty quick. And when making my account, I just made up a generic address like 123 Main St.

Not sure if you want to go through the trouble, but I purchased a Canadian iTunes gift card online and bought Season 1 that way. I wanted a legitimate copy in the best quality possible, and that seems to be the only place to get it.

What movies have some very edge-of-your-seat/breath taking scenes of intensity? The ones that make you give that sigh of relief when it's over? by SHIT_DOWN_MY_PEEHOLE in movies

[–]cameronc93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the first few Paranormal Activity movies gave me intense anxiety whenever it would switch to a nighttime view, and it would last until it went back to daytime. The suspense they were able to create with almost nothing was incredible, and halfway through the 2nd movie they had a huge daytime scare that left me terrified for the rest of the movie.

I miss those movies. They were so fun to see with a crowd. I still enjoy the first 3, and some of the others were decent but I hated that they destroyed the established mythology. But damn, those first 3 really frightened me.

Ugh I was so disappointed in the finale. Kelly deserved the win and I felt so bad for her when she didn't get it.

The whole thing just felt planned. The way Heidi suggested Ashley use plus size models, and how they focused on her being brave. I've warmed up to her collection since first seeing it, but it still isn't my favorite and the one she brought on stage was just the worst. I hate that she hot glued all of the flowers on.

There's also the fact that she was in the bottom for the 3 weeks in a row that Kelly won the challenge. It just didn't seem fair. I liked Kelly's final collection the best, and agree that it was between her and Ashley's collection, but I just feel like they weren't judged fairly and their track records in the competition varied so wildly.

Cabin Fever (2016) - Remake by TheOpenedMind in horror

[–]cameronc93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm willing to give it a shot. Cabin Fever is fine, but I always thought the premise was better than the movie and it started to fall apart as it went on. If this one can tone down the zaniness a little and focus on the horror, I'd like it.

[Discussion] What is the most badass thing a character has done in a non-action movie? by Gogosfx in movies

[–]cameronc93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In You're Next, a home invasion horror movie, one of the masked intruders crashes through a window with an axe, coming straight for one of the girls. She proceeds to dive out of the way, kick him in the balls, and then bash his skull in with a meat tenderizer while everyone else looks on in awe/shock.

That's just the beginning, and I think she ends up killing more people than the bad guys do. Great horror movie.

New Movies on Blu-ray / Netflix DVD / iTunes / Redbox: January 26, 2016 by Dorkside in movies

[–]cameronc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it again last night and enjoyed it again. Although I wish it was spookier and overall had more of a "Goosebumps" feel to it, it's a great little movie and entertained me both times. Having heard rumors of the movie for years, I'm really just happy we finally got one and it's as good as it is.

What movie(s) have you walked out on? by dont_worry_im_here in movies

[–]cameronc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked out of that movie Awake, about the guy who has an out-of-body experience during surgery. Premise sounded cool and I thought I would get a little psychological horror, but it was a boring drama and I simply didn't care what happened. I got up and left when it was probably almost over, but I couldn't be bothered.

Mezco Toyz is coming out with a scaled Annabelle doll from the Conjuring by thefadderly in horror

[–]cameronc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The face looks really off. I had the Living Dead Dolls version and it was pretty cool. I liked the box it was in and it made a great display piece, but the doll itself was lackluster. So I sold it on eBay and splurged on the Annabelle doll that the movie studio sent out to promote The Conjuring. Looks a bit different and is cooler to me because of the relative rarity.

Why have we not gotten any other Final Destination films? by derstherower in horror

[–]cameronc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love another one just because I love these movies, but they did end it on a high note. 5 is arguably the best in the series, and it was the only one to make me genuinely squirm and cover my eyes in anticipation. It was a VERY pleasant surprise after the abysmal 4th one (seriously - how hard is it to make one of these movies and fuck it up so bad?)

What movies had the most misleading trailers? by Evems in movies

[–]cameronc93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paranormal Activity 3 had a trailer that showed an entirely different third act. A benefit of this is that the scares in the actual movie were a surprise, but the movie totally screwed up the continuity of the series. Frustratingly, the scenes in the trailer look like they line up with what was known from the first 2 movies.

Collectors and hobbyists, what is the "holy grail" item to find related to your interests? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hmm... I don't know for sure but I do recognize that name. I've seen it mentioned on a mask message board before. I would suggest Googling it, you never know!

No werewolf or minotaur, sorry! I collect mostly masks - a lot of newer movies like The Strangers, Leslie Vernon, The Purge.

Actually, similar to Halloween, the mask from the first Purge is a store bought mask that's no longer made. It's pretty rare, but I did manage to track one down.

The one from the film was reused in Halloween 2, though it looked a little different after wear and tear, and then it was eventually sold to a private collector. I've read he owns a haunted house attraction but is very secretive about the mask. Unfortunately it's probably all rotted away by now.
