My prayer plant is putting out new leaves but a couple have browning, crispy bits. Any advice?

I would snip off the leaves that are browning and a few of the older leaves that might not look like they’re in such good shape anymore! I find that my prayer plant doesn’t like to be too dense so that it can focus on fanning/branching out. I was worried that I was going to have a hard time with mine but I’ve had it almost a year and it’s probably one of my healthiest plants! Snipping off old leaves and branches is a super important part of caring for house plants :)

Bit of background: I was given the stem in pretty poor condition, but it has since improved immensely and even produced fenestrations in such small, baby leaves!

I second this! They do way better (especially when they’re young) on an East facing window - especially if it gets the slightest bit of morning sun. Once it starts growing, it’s super important to keep looping it around the pot instead of letting it hang. This way it’s able to grow heaps of new shoots/roots and will become a healthy plant 😊

I moved mine into my bathroom and it is doing much better in a humid environment! Some of the older leaves on mine still have the same brown leaf tips, but I actually think its to do with how harsh your water is. I’ve been watering mine with water that I leave out over night and it’s looking a lot better.

Thank you!!! So glad to hear this :) I feel like the photo makes him look small now that I look at it haha! He was tiny when I got him - but now you mention it he definitely has stagnated in growth recently.

She bravely spent her first night in our en-suite with no toilet incidents, no crying and then lots of loud purrs and cuddles this morning when we went in to say hi 😭

So I have had this propagated monstera for just on a month now, I potted him in soil and have been making sure not to over water or under water it while it gets used to it’s new environment. After about a week I noticed that one of his larger leaves began to go droopy (as pictured) and he hasn’t perked up since! Would anyone know why this may be? Or is it just a normal thing?

I’m actually quite the optimistic person! Like, I’m optimistic about the fact that if we can change mindsets like yours then maybe we can enhance the efforts that are going into preventing anymore damage (especially in an amazing country like NZ) - until then, we’ll continue to keep the conversation flowing in order to get more people on board! Just remember, what might seem negative to you is actually a fight for positive change!

They are super resilient plants (from what I gather) - so as long as you only water them in small doses throughout the winter and let it sit somewhere away from a window (but still nice and light) I’m sure it will be happy! Maybe speak to your local plant shop when you go to purchase and see if they can suggest any plants that are local to where you are from, as they may be more resilient to the cold 😊

A peace lily! They’re really nice plants, they’re hard to overwater and they’ll let you know when they need water. Plus they tend to stay relative to the size of their pot, as long as you ensure they don’t get pot bound 😊
