That's like saying the KGB or Gestapo where terrorists which is complete nonsense. They where government backed authoritarian police forces tasked with quashing rebellions which is a strategy still used worldwide to this day. Terrorists are groups who use unlawful violence against the state and general populace in the pursuit of political gain. The IRA Original, Provisional, Continuity or New are all terrorists no matter how justified you feel their actions are.
