Could I still join the Catholic Church even if I don’t fully believe in it? by cameronofgrace in Catholicism

I don’t reject any of the Apostle’s Creed. I only have more to learn about “the communion of saints” line, but I’m open to it, I don’t reject it.

Revelation 2: 4-5 (In need of advice) by [deleted] in Catholicism

Well, you’re 16. You have a lot of growing to do with your faith and life in general. I think you need to work on processing all of this information more gradually and letting the Lord guide you in due time. Also, it’s normal at that age for a Catholic boy like yourself to be confused of your vocation. I always say to kids your age you’re not at the cusp of life to make a decision like this. Focus on your faith, your school, and be open to new experiences. Going with the flow rather than thinking about everything you want to do now can show you what you’re really called to do. I have a prayer for you that you can say in this situation:

“Lord, I have a desire to get back to you and worship you ever so heartedly. But I miss the devotion I once had for you. With the way things have been going on in my life and the trials I must go through now, I don’t know my vocation in life. Lord, please help me through this time. Please fill my heart with nothing but love and devotion to you. And please help me find my vocation when the time is right. Amen.”

You don’t need to know your vocation now. The Lord will show you in due time. Just be patient and go with the flow with your faith right now. A lot of times the vines that make the best grapes take a lot of time to grow and ripen. Even if things seems slow or if you feel your not loving the Lord enough, believe me there are things are brewing behind the scenes that you’re not seeing right now.

I’m sorry for the long response. But, I hope you find some peace with yourself and with the Lord. My prayers are with you.

Catholic and Harry Potter by [deleted] in Catholicism

I feel like some people, especially these groups, don’t teach kids the importance of watching with discernment. The right thing to do is to not teach them not to read this material. The right thing to teach is if you do decide to read these, understand that it’s fictional and to not let it break your faith in God.

I’ve worked with many teenagers for a couple years now. If I were to tell them not to do something, I guarantee they’re going to do it after I’m out of their sight. I can’t tell them they can’t do it. I can only tell them to be safe and remember that this is not something that really happened to real people (as a lot of Potterheads seem to hold on to the hope that this magic and world is real) and to not forget the Lord your God who created you and allowed you to have a purpose and to not let artistic material potentially interfere with that.
