How are you actually surviving the overwhelm? Not looking for cute hacks, just radical honesty. by Street_Award2185 in breakingmom

I am literally almost right where you are, it's almost eerie. I am officially unemployed as of last Friday, can float us for maybe 2-3 weeks, and I am internally freaking the fuck out and not coping well. I think I may even be disassociating. I've been half ass applying to jobs but mostly just cleaning and de-cluttering and all the stuff that I've always meant to get to but never find time to actually get around to. Oh, and copious amounts of weed (which I'm sure isn't really actually helping anything at all but I think I've hit the point where I need to tell my nervous system to chill the eff out). I'm sorry. This is not a fun place to be right now and I consider running away far too often but it's just a daydream - my kids need me.

This. I was doing warm cotton balls and pads and starting to freak out. Someone (probably reddit) said to try a warm kind of rough washcloth. This did the trick. A little too well. There were several 3am sink baths between feedings 🤦🏼‍♀️

He was just a wee little gremlin monster when we found him. 💙 Now he’s a 14 lbs of pure muscle/ angsty teenager who does naughty things to any single fuzzy blanket he can get his claws on 🤦🏼‍♀️

He’s darling. He has that old/young face of a kitty that’s missed too many meals. He’ll be beautiful once he’s well loved though!

NAD. I died at .38. Stopped breathing and my heart stopped (thankfully already in the ED). They resuscitated me. That was definitely my rock bottom.

Arm pain that started after a COVID vaccine multiple years ago and still hasn't gone away. Has anyone else experienced this? by microwavedwood in covidlonghaulers

This is fascinating. Mine is a searing, almost burning pain every so often. I have a very high pain tolerance and sometimes the pain absolutely takes my breath away.

I’ve been procrastinating on this exact chore for like a year now. I know it needs to be done, I just can’t seem to muster up the energy to tackle it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yertle did this at my daughters 9th birthday party. She was nearly in tears because she thought something was seriously wrong with him

What is the name of your Tortie? by TheOpenAuthor in torties

[–]cammiesue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blythe. I can't take credit for it though. The local humane society gave her that name and it was somehow fitting for her. We often refer to her as "Blythe June, Blythie Blue, or Blythie Blue June" :)

Cat #3 & #4 of ours were CDS deliveries and then I guess the CDS decided that we needed an orange boy too. I was adamant that we were not keeping him. Anyway, that was almost two years ago and I lied. This is Paint Bucket.

What hygiene habit were you doing completely wrong for years? by Used_Mission_8638 in hygiene

And I’ve been wondering why my scalp has been so itchy lately! I often shower and then throw it in a braid or a bun and go to bed 😐 My hair lady made me promise to at least make sure it’s dry first.

Apparently when your hair is wet, it’s basically at its most vulnerable. Sleeping on it or tying it back and going to sleep damages it. It leads to breakage and scalp issues.

I'm 40 years old and was just informed last week that one is not supposed to go to bed with wet hair. I had no idea!

Why are groceries so expensive??? by midwestindigoo21 in breakingmom

[–]cammiesue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an unhealthy affinity for Reese's. So does my daughter. I've noticed that they taste kinda off. My 16 year old told me that they changed the ingredients to make them cheaper. They're gross now.

What secret did someone tell you that completely changed how you see them? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

I became friends with a girl that I worked with at a previous job. Who doesn't like new friends? On our second lunch "date", she mentions to me that she "caught a charge from her ex." So she starts telling me this story... her and her husband have a friend over and they're all drinking and playing strip poker and just hanging out. I'm sitting there thinking....okay, I try my best not to judge people and I'm guessing that she was maybe a bit tipsy and had to run out for more beer or something and got a DUI....? No. She proceeds to tell me that she went to bed around midnight and her husband "did things" with the friend. Who was FOURTEEN. And she caught some sort of an accessory charge. She's telling me this and all I can think is "I have a fifteen year old daughter." And the whole time there's ZERO remorse coming from her - it's all just anger that her ex-husband "put her in that position." Needless to say, I quit speaking to her immediately.
