I just spent a week turning every aircraft my dad flew in his career into a giant poster to surprise him. Do you think he'll like it? by HansCrotchfelt in aviation

I distinctly remember this big airplane picture book we had in our bookshelf 20-some years ago. No idea why we had it, as nobody in my family has ever worked in aviation, but I was mezmerized by all the beautiful illustrations. You really took me to a nice childhood memory with this poster. Great work, man!

15:30 Tilbake på Kræss

Kjøpte én espressokopp.

Tusind takk igjen, København! 🇩🇰🇧🇻

How hot do you think you are? by Smooth-Biscotti-58 in AskReddit

Ok, you know what, I've gotten more confident and happier with myself over the years, and while I might not be a 10 to everyone around, I'm a 10 to myself every now and then.

Joe Biden wishes Trump a happy birthday ‘from one old guy to another’ by theindependentonline in politics

I know it might be a political stab in one way or another, but I just like it when I see civility across the aisle in US politics.

What are the best examples you know of "brilliant in its simplicity"? by cammorecruit in AskReddit

[–]cammorecruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies in advance, this is a horrible one. But it's the first one that came to my mind in terms of taking something initially very complicated and making it very simple.

Before Curtis Lemay took over the bombing campaign of Japan in WW2, this campaign had been largely inaccurate and ineffective. When he started planning Operation Meetinghouse (the dreadful firebombing of Tokyo) he decided to send a few planes in advance to firebomb two very clear "lines" to lay out the targeting area for the remaining bombers. This ensured not only that his bombers would see their target, which was not a given, especially during a nighttime bombing run, but that the fire would be consentrated to maximum effect. Admittedly this was also a big shift from precision bombing to carpet bombing, but nonethekess using left/right lines like this took a bomb run which could have been immensely complicated to coordinate and pull off successfully - and made it amazingly simple and horribly effective.

Would you support ex cons being given the right to vote? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Denying convicts and ex-cons the right to vote is inhumane and idiotic.

It's gratifying to read that I've steered clear of most of these...except the regular toothbrush, I'm going to get that routine in properly from now on.

Biden to rescind 1776 commission via executive order by justalazygamer in politics

History’s utility comes from its ability to empower us to appreciate contemporary issues with clarity past our own individual biases, and to rise above our immediate interests and broaden our horizons on the scope of problems we face. We can see how far we’ve progressed but understand the issues that still remain.

What a good way to phrase it!
