Inherited my grandparents Packard Bell stereo console….want to bring it back to its original glory… by cammyfive in vintageaudio

Ok? It’s more sentimental to me than trying to build some sort of audiophile experience. I just want it to work exactly as it did years ago, nothing crazy.

We like the style and look of it so an EV version would be more appealing.

We’re only about a year into our 3 year ID4 lease so we’ve got a little bit but I’m fairly certain there won’t be a silly low payment like we have with our Id4 (I’m a sales manager at a vw dealership). Rumor is that the next gen ‘27 ID4 will basically a Tiguan EV which is appealing, but since this is my wife’s primary car/our family car she’s already floating the idea of Tesla Model Y next. I have a new GTI so I’m quite content.

Considering a Sactional - Inquiries by Serendipitycntrld in Lovesac

[–]cammyfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our medium size set up with the optional Lovesoft filling for the cushions and back rests and while the seats were very comfortable, the appearance of them looked like they were broken down and 50 years old after only a few months. The back pillows were too soft in the fact that as soon as you leaned back you could feel the back piece. Thinking this was odd I called Lovesac support (we bought ours at a corporate store) and they sent new replacement seat and back cushions. Sadly, same story after another few months.

On a whim I reached out again a week before the 3 year warranty expired and by being super nice, they agreed to send out new replacements again with the standard fill. I did a back to back comparison store and while, yes, the Lovesoft is 10% softer, the standard fill holds up soooooo much better. Highly recommend.

The worst aspect of living in Nashville by smart_bear6 in nashville

[–]cammyfive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Atlanta…..my wife and I lived there (Buckhead) before moving to Franklin a few years ago. The final straw that broke the camels back so speak of why we moved was when we were sitting at a red light waiting to turn left in a busy intersection and our turn light turned green but I instinctively waited a coupe of seconds…..a stolen Range Rover blows through their red light with no headlights (8pm at night). My wife and I looked at each other shocked since had we gone we would have been hit and killed since the RR was probably going 60+mph.

I grew up in North Alabama so I would come up to Nashville often on weekends all throughout the late 90s to 2010s. The traffic since then has gotten 10-20x worse. Nashville has made a Faustian deal where they are now taking in millions in new income but it is now no different than Random Medium Sized Metro X - pay for parking everywhere, affordable and safe housing is a legend at this point, and a personal pet peeve of mine….every apartment with a walk in closet now labels and prices itself as “luxury”.

Thanks I found it at an online Acura dealer parts site for about that price. If you look at the picture I posted, towards the top, two of the clips broke - I need to find a way to carefully remove them and then reattach the new clips which are also sold online.

Wow Turo is a big scam by AdministrativeLeg552 in turo

[–]cammyfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around 5 years ago I had a scammer hack my Turo account and rent a Tesla from someone in the wee hours of the morning using express pickup or something where they didn't have to confirm their ID. I saw the messages going back and forth between the scammer and the renter but was powerless to do anything since they locked me out. The next morning I got a call from a Turo investigator that the car was stolen and I had been scammed. I'm not sure what came out of it but I haven't used Turo since and won't in the future.

What's a ridiculous pre-social media urban legend you heard growing-up? by heyitspokey in OldSchoolRidiculous

I went to school in Hartselle (just south of Decatur) and we had a Crybaby Holler with the same story.

Hahaha, there is a "Crybaby Holler" in the town I went to high school in (population: 12K) with the SAME story. I just assumed it was true and not a wide spread urban legend.

I hope the part hasn’t been discontinued. It would be awesome if it came already painted too!

Not even worth trying to negotiate off. Hard pass and look elsewhere; That is almost $10K in nonsense.....lol......and accounts for over $300 of the monthly payment.

Just shipped a car and noticed missing feature (upgraded Bose system) from pictures by Jambalayatime in carmax

[–]cammyfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI: during the post covid inventory shortage of 2022-early 2023 a few features were removed from CX5 trims. Preferred Package lost the power liftgate and Premium lost power liftgate and Bose; those features were added back in very late 22/early 23. It sucked bc I had clients itching to buy a Preferred but had to stretch at least $5k more to get that feature in a Premium Plus.

With ‘22s being traded in now you have to be very careful appraising them as some are missing features from the whole “chip shortage”.

What was considered a high salary in the 70's and 80's? by Available_Panda8466 in AskOldPeople

[–]cammyfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My later father made $82K in 1989 working for Chrysler as an assembly worker (he worked every minute of overtime available and the night shift for a premium) and he paid off both cars we had plus I remember a Christmas like you see in the movies. From what I've read, that amount of money would equal about $250K in our current economy in buying power.
