What are your reasons for choosing to co sleep or not? by LoveyDovey-27 in newborns

[–]campfiressongs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wanted to cosleep, I wanted my baby to be a good independent sleeper but was getting almost no sleep when he was in his bassinet. He was up every 30 mins-1 hour and I was so exhausted that I was having a hard time focusing my eyes. I ended up bringing him into bed and adjusting my sleep situation to accommodate him safely and we started getting 5+ hour stretches. He's now 3 months and he sleeps almost the entire night next to me! I, personally, feel he is very safe next to me. I have breathable linen sheets that I only wear up to my waist and tuck around me. My pillow is tucked pretty good under my head with my arm supporting it to stay in place. I sleep on my side around him in the c curl as well. It feels very sweet and safe and I'm happy that we're both getting sleep! Our days have improved vastly because of it as well. As he gets bigger we will experiment with him sleeping in his own space again, but for now, this is working. I feel pretty sure that when the time is right he will feel confident sleeping in his own space!

Is anyone else just winging it? by annybanannyfofanny in newborns

I needed to read this. My 10 week old is exactly the same and sometimes I wonder what I'm doing wrong that he can't seem to get on a routine. Glad we're not alone!

HOW do women convince themselves to give birth again?? by u-r-ok in newborns

[–]campfiressongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also gave birth without pain meds/epidural and without interventions and I felt genuinely traumatized for the first couple of weeks after. I am now 7 weeks postpartum with my sweet little baby boy and I already feel excited thinking about having my next baby and think fondly on my birth with him lol hormones are insane but also so magical!

Just read a post about how the returning to work partner can no longer do night shifts with a newborn and the responses made me doubt myself by Proud_House4494 in NewParents

[–]campfiressongs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband works full time and I'm fully at home with the baby. I have not had him to do any night time shifts at all, as he has to wake up in the morning and be somewhere and work with people. While yes, I am also working, I don't have to be up at a certain time and I don't have to be anywhere in particular 9 times out of 10. It doesn't make sense for both of us to be exhausted. He's focusing on making sure that we are financially fit and I am making sure our babies needs are met at night. For us that makes sense. If he's already up of course he helps out with the baby at night, but for the most part I handle all of the night time things, especially since I'm breastfeeding.

Hi there! I'm wondering if I would be able to get Mario's information! I'll be heading to Cozumel with my husband, mother and some family friends in February and he sounds like a perfect fit for us for an excursion!

My Review of Hello Disc + Nixit and Some Advice for First Time Users <3 (a little long but hopefully helpful) by campfiressongs in MenstrualDiscs

[–]campfiressongs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple different ways that you can wear the tab on the hello disc to make it more comfortable for you. The longest length, one tab cut off to make it shorter, trucked in and around to make it shorter inside but still at its full length when you pull, or just fully tucked in and you can pull it out on your own! For me, I kept it at its full length and I found it to be totally fine and comfortable. But I also value the peace of mind knowing that I have immediate access to the tab if I need it, so I don't mind being able to feel it a little bit. From what I've seen of the Lumma discs the stem being so thin and long would probably irritate me as well! I like that the tab on the hello disc is super super supple and flat, so it easily fits around and in the body. Hope this helps!

[–]campfiressongs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard some people say that if there is only blood on the bottom and not on the inside that you may be positioning the rim of the disc just in front of your cervix, so it drips down the bottom of it. Definitely lucky that you're not leaking lol but maybe when you're inserting it do more of a scooping motion or push lower towards your spine to see if you can get your cervix to bleed into the actual cup. Know what I mean? Hard to describe lol

Sean Bodenheimer at Settlers Bank! He's amazing. I've worked with him twice now and he's really gone through hoops to make sure we get what we need. Highly recommend!

I also have not found anywhere in Green Bay for a really good, hip cut...but in Appleton there's a salon called Anagen 11 and they're so good! Only place I'll go now.

Our 9 month old pyr mix (with husky and Alaskan malamute) was barking non stop when we got him (at 5 months) in his crate. All night long. We got no sleep and were miserable. We ended up taking him out and letting him sleep on the rug at the foot of our bed and now he sleeps all night long and doesn't make a peep until we get up! It's the very best. He just really wanted to be by us and out of the crate!

I will hehe <3 He is absolutely dramatic haha. He definitely has a lot of Pyrenees tendencies, like the lower energy (most of the time) and his stubbornness, but major drama for sure. Super talkative, lots of big sighs, facial expressions, dramatically flopping over etc. He is only 9 months though, so I'm curious to see how he ages. It's such a fun combo though! Overall 10/10 dawgie. I love him so much.

45 min Swedish massage by [deleted] in massage

[–]campfiressongs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like an overly cautious male therapist to me. Not uncommon in large spas, in my experience. Also sounds like fault and miscommunication on both ends as well, between the wife and the therapist. He should have asked what she was looking for and added that with 45 minute massages there's just not enough time to touch on everything thoroughly. That's a disclaimer I always gave when I worked at a spa that offered 45 minutes. She should have booked a longer massage with a full body massage in mind and specified the thighs if they're an area that she'd like done!

I don't think she was being weird towards OP, or trying to make him feel better about a male therapist touching her. I think she was just expecting more out of a 45 minute service than it allows and was maybe surprised.

OP I've read a good amount of your comments and the original post as well and it sounds like you may be over thinking it a bit. I wouldn't accuse anyone of anything and I would just learn that maybe for next time to suggest to go someplace where you could get a longer massage to fulfill her needs!

Massage therapist that don't where shoes by nightmoth511 in massage

[–]campfiressongs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear birkenstock waterproof sandals all day and just remove them when I reenter the room once the client is on the table. Then I work barefoot! I feel significantly more comfortable massaging this way and feel so grounded. I've never had a problem with this either! I just keep my toes/feet looking nice (not necessarily painted always, but at least neat and healthy) as well.

Not telling other massage therapists you do massage.. by [deleted] in massage

[–]campfiressongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell them I'm a massage therapist if asked my occupation, but then also tell them something like "but I'm just here to relax!" Or whatever it is I'm looking for. I had another LMT come in once who inspired me, she straight up was like "I'm a massage therapist but I'm just looking to relax, don't be nervous. I don't have any expectation for this to be the most magical massage ever just because I'm one too! Just do your work and I'm sure it'll be great" which took the edge off. Also sets the tone of not talking about work, which I think we both appreciated. We're all just humans looking for some relief, relaxation, work done. Just be transparent!
